(0)LAWL.
Love these fast-food ones.
Someone's gotta work at 'em. I used to, to pay for college.
(0)kids gotta hate'em gotta love'em. actually 90% hate.. little fucks
(0)I'm working at our local DQ to get through college, definitely know how that feels.
(0)Damn.
(0)ahh kids and their brutal honesty.
(0)man. if that isn't a swift kick to the balls i don't know what is
(0)well he could have swiftly kicked him in the balls.
(0)Maybe he's really smart:)
(0)Haha, that kid sure told YOU! Don't feel bad though, a job is a job. Too many people don't even have a job.
(0)It's Ok it not like your 30, are you ?
(0)Yeah, definitely DON'T feel bad about working crappy jobs, because usually they're young kids trying to work through college, which is very smart (uhm, hello, little to no debt? That's definitely a winner in my book!) and I commend those who are.
However, if you're working there full time (or even part time) and you're not going to school or have to plans to go... yeah, you should reconsider that.

(0)not really that big of an FML. he didn't really straight up call you dumb or anything. not that big of an insult, really. I think it's great that his dad is encouraging him to be all that he can be.
so many FMLs have been about this lately. there's nothing wrong with having a fast food job.
(0)Burned by a 10 year old. To be honest, working in fast food, you've gotta be prepared to take the shit. At least you're contributing to the economy. If you're of school age, it's not embaressing, you've gotta pay your way through university somehow. If not - get a proper job.
(0)No offense but that kid owned you!
Kids say the darndest things, dont they?
(0)So what did your dad tell you? "Son, you've got the brains to work fast food one day. You're too smart to go into something like being a trashman or a politician."
#13 - On 04/07/2009 at 2:36pm by SomethingWitty
(0)LOL! you have to start somewhere, holy shit. at the age of 16 he'll be practicing law i assume?
(0)i've seen a similar fml like this one.
(0)Why do so many people think there is something wrong with someone older working at a fast food place? Not evreyone is cut out for other jobs or college. (or are able to afford such) I say as long as you are working somewhere... to hell with what people think.
(0)So, you got upset enough by something a 10 year old said. Hold on, let me repeat that last part. A 10 year old. Cheezits Crust guy, get over it. It's a friggin little kid. If you allow yourself to get upset by a toddler, then you got some serious self-esteem issues.
(0)LMFAOOOOOOOOOO ,
the truth hurts

(0)Thank you 17, haha. I have no plans to go to university, and I'm perfectly happy with that, because a few more years of school and essays is not for me. I don't WANT to be a doctor, or a lawyer, or a business executive, so why the hell bother?
Although it isn't my plan to ever work at a fast food place, I'm perfectly content with my bank/receptionist (one of them is parttime so I have both at the moment) jobs for the forseeable future.
(0)destroyed! what an awesome little kid.
(0)Umm... everyone starts at jobs like that.... what an asshole dad... That sucks.... maybe dad will lose his job and end up working at a burger chain....
(0)"Today, a guy working at a hot dog chain told me I'd be a great worker there when I grow up. FML."
Seriously, you are a moron for telling that to a 10-year old kid. YDI
(0)Agreed with #23, but also: when the kid is 16 and working at McDonald's, the last laugh will be yours.
(0)all the kid ones are fucking stupid and fake
(0)Too bad yuo can't put the little brat to work. It really sucks that his dad is teaching him that that attidude is OK. Sadly, when he gets a job like that, he'll probably be one of those types tha t'knows his rights' and gets away with whatever he wants. Wouldn't it be great to 'accidentally' drop a weight on his head?
(0)I have an unpaid internship right now - great experience, but I can barely afford the mass transportation fare. As a result, I'm a nineteen-year-old taking a job at a fast food restaurant over the summer.
Think about it this way, you're making more money than 9% of the United States right now.
(0)Eh, I payed for my first year of college with my earnings from Burger King and am putting myself through college by washing dishes...its nothing to be ashamed of!
(0)I work at Arby's part time and am the student associate of the finance department at a big business --- a lot of people at Arby's are a hell of a lot smarter than those that work in the office.
(0)Sounds like the kid/dad were right.
(0)Well, if he was talking about it with his dad, that could mean that the kid had actually wanted to work there but his dad had other plans for him.
(0)as long as you are only working there temporarily while in school, I would not worry about the comment.
if the kid is really all that interested in serving people mystery flesh wrapped in pig intestines, tell him he should consider owning a hot dog business rather than merely working at one for minimum wage and making someone else rich. his dad might like the business ownership idea better :):)

(0)At least the kid has motivation.
(0)hahaha that kid's awesome.
(0)#34 knows what's up.
(0)well hes gotta be dumb 2 think tht only stupid ppl work at fast food places and stuff... and + most teenagers usually get low pay jobs at first and also just cuz his father says he smart doesnt mean he really is... even if he is smart tht doesnt guarantee he'll get a good job on his first try... seriously this kid must have been under the age of 10...
(0)meh. your job probably pays more than mine and is probably more social than mine - i do a paper round and i get paid £5 (not sure what the US equivalent is) for the whole weekend. that's barely minimum wage here in England. so not only do you have a better job money wise, you're probably only in it to pay for university or college or something like that, so if the kid says something similar again say to him something like "Actually, i'm being very smart by working here, because i get money that i can use to pay for things i like :) "
(0)So, the economy is rough and you are trapped in a shitty job? The little boy us just took a compliment too seriously.
(0)so?
(0)well his dads a dick, its not a bad place to work if you are in high school or college, and if his family is so damn good why are they eating so much fast food?
(0)soo soo so so so many versions of this FML.
(0)I doubt that kid is going to college, much less high school. Don't feel bad.
(0)That kid's father will eat his words when he realizes that most young teens have no choice but to work at a similar job. What a condescending asshole. I hate when people make the assumption that you're working at a job like that because you're not doing anything better with their lives. Many of them are paying for college, and I respect them a hell of a lot more than those who don't work while attending school.
(0)Dad is a prick for telling his son that. A lot of people (including myself) work fast food to pay for college.
(0)I'd tell my kid the same thing [-;
(0)So? Maybe he is too smart to work for a place like that!
#47 - On 04/07/2009 at 6:48pm by Zoa
(0)Honestly, if my son told me, "when I grow up, I want to work in a hot dog stand, so I could eat hot dogs all day," I'd probably tell him that he was smart enough to get a better job.
(0)Oh damn... I'd have cried...
(0)So what? He's being honest? Some of us have potential and ambition, and want to get a real job instead of wasting away in the fast foot industry
Now if you're a teenager or using it to help pay for college or maybe as a 2nd job for extra cash (hopefully your 1st job is a good one), it doesn't matter that you work there but seriously...people who know they can do better aren't going to lower themselves to minimum wage jobs.
And seriously, what kind of dad would that be if he said "Son, you're only going to be let down in life. More likely than not, you're going to work at a hot dog stand, so I hope you acquire a good taste for them." A good dad isn't going to tell his kid that he isn't going to do any better than the fast food industry just to help your pathetic self esteem. YDI.
Why do people post similar FMLs? I swear I saw one just like this one a couple days ago except it was a little girl and her mother.

(0)#50 a dad shouldnt be like ur too smart 2 work in fast food... even tho most teens start out there... the dad should be like u can succeed in anything u want... ppl who work in fast food arent dumb and tht little kid is a spoiled brat and will be blamin his dad one day when is first job is drive-thru window at mcdonalds... what does this fag kid think hes gonna be a lawyer the first day he applies 4 a job??
(0)wowww. some people (this kid's father) just don't understand the necessity of a job and that sometimes it isn't always a great one. i hate people like that. i feel for ya.
(0)#50, this kid's dad shouldn't teach him that he's better than everyone else by not trying, which is what it sounds like. because a kid young enough to say that wouldn't know the kind of potential they have yet.
so basiacally, this dad is saying to his kid "you're just naturally smart and don't have to try in life and you will start at the top" which is definately a lie. ughh.. people like that make me angry.
(0)Don't feel bad. I worked at Hot Dog on a stick during high school and still do in the summer. I love it because the benefits are great (tuition reimbursement and stock ownership). That kid and his dad are just stuck-up bitches. Someone has to cook his food.
(0)again as always this has been on here multiple times in different forms so heres the attention you want now leave
(0)Well, you DO work at a hot dog chain. Not exactly what most kids have in mind for the career to aim for, you know?
(0)My dad told me the same thing once. We were hanging out in a rec center, and two of the custodians went over to play pinball. My dad whispered to me, "You see them? That's why you go to college." I ended up dropping out after sophomore year.
(0)Poor kid doesn't know when to keep his mouth closed... not so smart after all. At his age, I knew better.
(0)#59 when you were 10 you knew better? Sure, whatever you say...
(0)Well you're live pretty sucks, xD
Did you resign from your job?
xD
(0)well it is not like it takes a lot of brains to make a hot dog.
(0)Haha! You got owned by a kid.
(0)Kids say the darnest things huh?!
(0)Eh, I don't see the big deal. As a parent, you want to set your kids' sights a little higher than fast food, even if they do eventually work at a fast food place when they're older.
(0)Not FML worthy
(0)heehee
(0)So what? These days it's so difficult to find a job. You should consider yourself lucky, so stfu.
(0)The kid's going to learn to respect you when he's in high school.
(0)you don't insult people handling your food because.... they can always..
SPIT IN YOUR FOOD!
thats what you shoulda done anyways.
(0)Kool kid, at least he's gonna try and get a good job. (no offense)
(0)#71 who says the writer didnt try 2 get a good job?? times r very hard in this economy... if u knew anything u would kno that! somebody needs 2 teach u and the little kid in the story some respect
(0)well next time daddys gonna get some spit on his hot dogs
(0)That kid will learn in the future that he may have to.
(0)Lol owned by a 10 yr old
(0)Wow at the stupid comments being posted. People take these FMLs too seriously. Just laugh and move on you pricks.
(0) lolllllll really funny fml.
(0) how is that bad?
