Today, after being told numerous times how sexist the East Coast is, I went ahead with my East Coast grad school architecture interview. The first thing out of the interviewer's mouth was, "Are you sure you don't want to do interior architecture?" FML
I agree, your life sucks 23 066

Doesn't necessarily have to be sexist, perhaps he was just insinuating it's a field more in demand, in a relatively similar aspect. It happens in any engineering field, but you really just have to stick with your passion.

I don't really get how this is sexist. He's not forcing you to change your focus. Seems more like you're letting it get to you.

You should've listened to your friends...

You live you learn. Best of luck on your chosen path.

Funny how it's actually mostly girls studying architecture here, don't let them discourage you!

You should have answered " like repainting those walls with your blood by punching you?". Fyl anyway.

Yes, because I'm sure assault would look fantastic for future interviews.

Maybe people do that mistake and think it's a interior they are interviewed for and he jus wanted to make sure?

People like you are the problem with America. Misinterpreting everything as an affront against your gender or race. If they are so sexist then why'd they give you a shot? Grow up.

they're in high demand & pays a lot. How's it a problem?

I don't see how this is sexist, all I see is someone using that excuse to seek attention. Nothing wrong with interior design hell you might get a reality show out of it if you're good enough.
