Red tape

Today, after 4 years of nicely asking, I wrote an official memo to our logistics department, asking for new chairs for my subordinates. The logistics people came and concluded that there are more broken chairs than good ones, but suggested that perhaps we should all go on a diet. FML

That shouldn't be okay. Sounds to me like they're being cheap. I would report them

Given the shape of the average IT guy they weren't totally wrong with this suggestion

Maybe run a bit more at night to avoid the heat?

#6 OP is with Logistics not from IT. no that it's an acceptable excuse for not buying new chairs.

Totally agree with this, anyone sitting around all day tends to gain a few pounds overtime! And if there are chairs being broken, I can only assume the worst! Now let's get everyone to Oprah so they can look under their seats! Free memberships to the gym WOOH!

They probably have some benefits from your high management if they delay the purchase of new chairs.

Wait till they go on a break, and switch your chairs with theirs!

My chem teacher used to do that with the bio class next door because their stools were padded

Time to throw down a challenge! Tell them your department can lose more weight than theirs and if you win you get new chairs.

Did they weight every single person out there?
