Today, my boyfriend went to jail for a DUI. In a panic, I rushed to go bail him out. On the way to the jail I was stopped for running a red light. I soon joined my boyfriend in jail with my very own DUI charge. FML

You dont think "hey... he just got thrown in jail for drinking and driving, so maybe i should call a cab or maybe not speed or do something stupid to get pulled over since i am drunk and am going to drive"? YDI for being a moron

DUI stands for "driving under [the] influence". It could be either alcohol or drugs, but I think alcohol is more common. Also, they could've found out the OP was drunk right away with a breathalyzer, whereas it'd probably take longer to confirm that she was in fact on drugs.

Actually, alcohol isn't a drug. It's a depresant and an addictive drink.

You don't need to be drunk to get a DUI. You can get a driving under the influence charge if there's any legal or illegal narcotics, even prescription meds in your system that impair your ability to operate a vehicle. My boss has a DUI on his license shortly after recovering from a fractured spine and was driving after taking pain meds.

Why on earth would you panic and be in such a rush to bail him out you run a red light? What exactly did you think was going to happen to him in the, say, ten minutes extra it would have taken you to crive there carefully? YDI for being an idiot.

I agree. If your boyfriend was made into someone's bitch in those extra minutes it would have taken you to stop at the red light, then he deserved it for driving under any kind of influence. Either way, YDI. Did you really think we would take pity on you?

Yeah, jail isn't even where all the horrible stuff happens. My ex was in jail overnight a couple times (there's a damn good reason he's my ex) and he was 5'2" and 115 lbs and didn't end up anybody's bitch. Your boyfriend would have been fine, you dumb ass.

Agreed. What on Earth could make you think running a red light was okay? Basically, between that and the drunk driving you were extra determined to kill someone tonight. I hope you and your boyfriend plow yourselves into a tree before someone innocent has to pay the price for your selfishness.
