Today, I went to see a therapist for the first time because I've been feeling depressed lately. I opened up and said everything that was on my mind. I really spilled my guts. After a good 30 minutes, her first question was, "Do you always talk this much?" FML

Actually I know from expierence that this is not a lie. I went to a therapist for the same reason and she asked me what had been on my mind, I have hard time opening up to people as it is but figured that it was her job to listen (plus I was paying her enough to listen) after telling her everything and tell her how I felt, she looked at me straight in the face and told me I talked too much!

Oh, I thought people went to therapists to talk about their problems. Thanks for clearing that up for me!

Honestly, if you have a mediocre therapist, they can say some pretty unthoughtful things. I've definitely had that experience.

You should have just said you were trying to get your money's worth by spilling it all out in the first session.

Time for a new therapist. That's really rude and of COURSE you're supposed to talk as much as you want. Especially in the beginning stages of therapy.

Ugh I had a therapist a few months ago. She was a freakin BITCH. Not your fault

That really sucks. I too have had bad experiences w/ therapists.. but there are some good ones out there. Don't be afraid to "fire" your therapist and find a new one. If you find someone that you can connect with it'll be much better. Sometimes they say careless things. Don't be afraid to tell them what is and what isn't working for you. It's okay to get mad at them.

The therapist is a WOMAN. Everyone keeps commenting saying "him/he/guy" learn to read people!
