Today, I learned that my anxious and obsessive mother is going to drive three hours every weekend to attend a Johns Hopkins medical course on stress reduction. Why is this bad? I just left home for college and have enjoyed my last two weeks of freedom without her around. I attend Johns Hopkins. FML

You have my sympathy just for attending Johns Hopkins! I spent two dismal years there as an undergrad years ago, and when I left I sent a letter to the campus paper that said something like "In my two years here, I have learned little, gotten lousy grades, and had a miserable time" and I meant all of it. I ended up graduating from a liberal arts college which showed me that undergrad education does not have to be as bad as it was at JHU.
Jesus Christ, you deserve it for being such a selfish bitch. If it's good for your mother, you need to stop being such a cunt and support her in getting better, unless you know for a fact she's only doing it to "stalk" you.

It doesn't have ANYTHING to do with hating their mother...but there are boundaries that mothers need to respect. When I was in the States to visit my husband's FAMILY while he was in Iraq and I didn't pick up the phone ONE time because I had a jetlag and was asleep...what did my mother do? Try to break open the door to our apartment "to find another number to call"...which is complete bs because I had given her my mother-in-laws address and phonenumber...
Some mothers just can be psycho every now and then. I didn't want to see her for a while once I found out...that doesn't mean I hate her.

If it makes you feel any better, my mom was so anxious and obsessive that she moved with me to college. I'm a senior now, and I have a 10 PM bedtime and the only way I can eat anything "not healthy" (which includes stuff from sweets to beef) is behind her back. I have to call her when I get to campus, when I eat lunch and before I leave campus to come back home. Whenever I make a hint about living on my own next year for grad school, I pay dearly for it. So I definitely sympathize, but remember, it could be worse....

Of course he's gonna stay at JH, its the most prestigious and best med school in America if not the world. You go to JH on your med resume, you got a job anywhere, no questions asked and 6 figures in your salary.

I visited Johns Hopkins University before. It's a pretty big campus. As long as your mum doesn't know where your dorm is then everything should be okay. Your life sucks because you live in Baltimore.... like me >.
