Today, I got my cat stuffed after her death. I brought her home and set her down by my couch. I guess my dog thought it was a new chew toy. FML

YOU disgust me, you pig. (#40) Do you also think people who keep the ashes of their parents "sick"?!

You're the sick one who can't understand the importance of a dead loved one, you depraved dirty cow.

The OP is just creepy for getting his cat stuffed.

#42 - On 07/26/2009 at 8:35pm by Moemoemoe

what the hell bitch????? >:

geting animals stuffed is kinda creepy but that is so heartless

cats and other animals should be loved like humans

#70 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:07pm by sadperson1234567

No. Humans > Animals. Get over it.

#79 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:21pm by mpdude8

Yeah, totally F the cat's Life...
Not only was it stuffed, but it's stuffed body was chewed up.

The OP reminds me of the creepy old woman in Coraline who has a wall of dead stuffed dogs wearing angel wings.

Creepy.
I can just imagine your cat's fake, glued-on eyes staring at you.

But, yeah, I agree that there is nothing wrong with keeping ashes.

#88 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:39pm by MARIOHGALACKSIE

No it's more like

Humans=Animals

Please tell me your a 4th grader.....

#89 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:39pm by girandwogpig

Hear hear

#97 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:50pm by tari_joon

Seriously #88? The cat was already DEAD! No need for the life to be fucked, cuz it's over! Everyone grieves in their own way. If this guy wants to stuff his dead cat, so be it. Women in India throw themselves on their husband's burning corpse, I don't see you calling them creepers. And yet, you are fine with people keeping ashes. How prejudiced is that?

OP: FYL, I hope you at least got it back before your dog completely mutilated it...

#98 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:50pm by sportastef

@79

Humans = Animals.

Humans are just very, very advanced animals.

(coughcoughinmostcasescoughcough*

Anyway...

Eh... I would I put the cat in a safer place...

I SOOOO agree w/ 42 :)

#120 - On 07/26/2009 at 10:35pm by lovely997

#123 - On 07/26/2009 at 10:38pm by Rouge_Plague

FYL, I have a cat and love wont know what to do if he dies :(

Buuut @79
Did you knew humans are the only animals that don't look themself as animals?
Guess your just one more, huh?

#126 - On 07/26/2009 at 10:39pm by kmi123pink

you know, #98, you have a good point, but you may want to revisit india (assuming you've actually been there and aren't just quoting from a book). Things have changed in the last 300 years.

#127 - On 07/26/2009 at 10:40pm by pcfreak701

Too many negative votes, comment buried. Show the comment.

No I am in college at a major university, thank you. By saying Humans = Animals you sound like a 4th grader yourself. A human is an animal, of course. But I cannot stand when people (i.e. PETA members) swoon over cats and dogs like they're family members.

Listen to me. Cockroaches and dogs are both examples of animals too. Yet stepping on a cockroach is perfectly acceptable and killing a dog is literally a crime in the US.

Never try to insult my intelligence again. In doing so you make yourself look like a moron.

#145 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:36pm by mpdude8

i'm sorry but thats just a little wierd imo getting your cat stuffed. I'm a compassionate lucid guy but animals=/= people. people> animals.

#149 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:40pm by friday1892

youre a tool

#153 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:47pm by gordonskatespc

uh 89.. it's actually humans = mammals.. >.>

#170 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:18am by Four

pcfreak701 got OWNED.
Humans > animals
thats like saying you would trade an infant for a kitten.

#173 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:25am by crumblemumble

That's also like feeding babies cat food, and saying that humans hunt animals using no weapons.

#178 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:35am by Night22

That is natures way of saying it but in the stupid human mind, It's human>animal. Btw who the fuck get's her cat stuffed? Nature also thinks that getting your cat stuffed is complete bullshit and they should be burried instead.

to bad stepping on a cockroach doesnt kill it

#195 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:11am by brittanixOo

You asshole! Humans are animals too! Just a different kind. I hate that. People thinking that somehow humans are above animals. We are just as much animal as they are!

#196 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:14am by Giselle468

People like you make me sick. I will go out of my way to help animals (injured baby racoons and birds have spent days in my garage) and i'm specializing in environmental engineering (which looks at protecting animals too) but come on stop being a stupid ignorant peta pushing person and get some common sense.

#198 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:19am by friday1892

@145: Lots of people are in college at major universities. I'm also in college. It might mean you're educated (not necessarily, but i'm giving you the benefit of a very great doubt here), but it doesn't mean you're smart. Those are two very different things.

My family has two dogs and we all treat them as part of the family, because they've been in our family for years. If you can't understand that humans can love animals to a great enough extent that they consider them part of the family, then you clearly never had a pet in your life. Either that or you just didn't give a shit about said pet.

And when you said "Never try to insult my intelligence again. In doing so you make yourself look like a moron," you don't look intelligent. You look like you're trying to be all high and mighty and "holier than thou," but you just come off looking like an ass. Get off your high horse and get a big ol' piece of humble pie.

And being at a major university doesn't give you a better education than a smaller one, so that comment didn't really have any standing. Just FYI.

#199 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:19am by irishlassie731

@42: how can you compare a dead parent to a dead cat? two completely different circumstances. And OP, YDI

#200 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:20am by flokoflyngsegals

@ 196: Are you crazy? humans are self-aware, which makes us able to value our life, making us more important than animals. stupid PETA ecoterrorist.

#204 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:25am by flokoflyngsegals

@79:

Animals > You
Now get off the internet and go eat your slop.

#206 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:33am by lovethewordnerd

What is with all these people saying how humans = animals. Sorry, no. We are the dominant species on this planet. We can think creatively, form language, use tools etc etc. A few other species can do these sorts of things, but of course on a much lower level.

I would also say that when one species keeps another species as a pet, then we win and are better than them.

#208 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:36am by emzmcgee

#206 well said

#209 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:37am by friday1892

No, I have not been there, but I do know even though it's been 300 years, people still do it. I don't care if it's a rarity, so is stuffing a cat. The point is, you shouldn't judge someone by how they grieve.

#212 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:47am by sportastef

@145: Pets ARE family members. They're like children who never grow up, but still fuck... Hah, that's actually rather comparable to certain members of the human race...
Strays, on the other hand, aren't so much.

I'm with you on the anti-PETA though. Those people are fucking crazy. Sea kittens... ugh.
And, yeah, though I love animals, humans > the rest of animals. I mean, shit, maybe our ways are fairly nonsensical and tedious (when you really think deep about it), at least we have something to do with ourselves other than lick our own genitals. Plus, we HAVE the ability to think deep about ourselves and go "well my life is pretty retarded" whereas your garden-variety pampered, fat-ass cat ... can't. lol
Nothing wrong with humans being above animals; saying so doesn't automatically make you a pretentious dick. People need to get off their activist high and think...

Kind of like how it annoys me to hell some people are afraid of these animals. "ZOMG TEH PUPPY DOG HAS TEEFS" -- so...? Kick it. Is it mean? Only if you did it for shits and giggles, but in this case the god damn thing was going to ATTACK YOU... Now, if it was your pet dog getting a little bitey, don't let it get away with that shit! Like I said, animals are like children, and must be disciplined accordingly....

Blahblahblah nevermind, I shouldn't get into this lol

#222 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:10am by DameGreyWulf

please tell me your 4th grade teacher didn't let you get away with that grammar.... *you're*

#223 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:12am by hannahleigh

I almost clicked YDI just to be anal. I mean, I was going to say YDI for leaving something that important to you lying on the couch...but your cat just died, so I can't really give you grief for that. And no, the YDI was not for having it stuffed....if that's how you mourn, then that's how you mourn...it's none of my business.

Just to join in this little argument going on here...Humans > Other Animals...sorry. I love animals; I'm a vegetarian...but, how many times have you stepped on a bug without giving it a second thought or eaten meat? I'm not saying it's right that animals are mistreated or anything...but it's better than people. And everyone who says they love their pets...the second the animal claws at one of your children, suddenly you realize that the animal isn't really your child. If there were a fire, you would save the kid first. But yes, all animals deserve the love you can give them.

#227 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:27am by curryndricegirll

@170, yeah, dont try to outsmart people again, you're making yourself look like an idiot.
yes, humans are mammals. Mammals are also animals.
Are your saying a cat or dog isn't an animal, because they're mammals.
Idiot.

#229 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:32am by hilaryy

@208- But humans are the ones who are f$%#ing up the world, animals aren't

#233 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:41am by Doomsday

I don't entirely understand what's meant by "humans>animals." Are we smarter? Yes. More powerful? Yes. More important? No. We rely on animals more than they rely on us. We depend on them to live. It's kind of difficult and unnecessary to determine whether or not we're "equal" to them.

#244 - On 07/27/2009 at 3:19am by synix

You're all dumbasses for getting so worked up about the comment by #40/backformorebitch, who is clearly trolling.

i hate cats

#251 - On 07/27/2009 at 4:15am by netfreak

#98: You idiot.

If your best friend died, would you stuff them and glue on fake eyes, then leave them on your couch so you can watch TV with them by your side forever?
I don't think so.

What the fuck is wrong with you?
What I said had nothing to do with: "Women in India throw themselves on their husband's burning corpse, I don't see you calling them creepers. And yet, you are fine with people keeping ashes. How prejudiced is that?"

I just think it's gross to stuff something that's dead and keep it in your house. (And most people commenting on this FML agree, so STFU.)

Also, I am fine with keeping ashes, because some people need a reminder of that dead person/animal and don't want some creepy stuffed thing in their house that reminds them of how they died, or something along those lines.

You know what? Don't even reply, asshole, I hate internet fights, and I don't want to fight with ignorant bastards who just want to argue about something that doesn't really even matter.

I can't tell the OP what to think, and you can't tell me what to think.

#256 - On 07/27/2009 at 4:58am by MARIOHGALACKSIE

wtf? Women in India don't "throw themselves on their husband's burning corpse."
Oh sweet ignorance!

#262 - On 07/27/2009 at 6:16am by cupidstunt

I'd mourn my cats a lot more than my stupid, violent, drunk shit of a mother, thank you very much...

#274 - On 07/27/2009 at 9:25am by JanisEvans

"We rely on animals more than they rely on us. We depend on them to live." When talking about pets such as dogs and cats this is simply not true. They depend on us entirely for food, protection from larger predators, etc., while we do not need them for anything. Seriously, if all domesticated dogs and cats spontaneoulsy disappeared, humans would not be at too much of a loss except for companionship.

#280 - On 07/27/2009 at 10:25am by goobly

Im gonna be completely unique and say
"F the dogs life"
cuz the stuff they use to preserve animals could really hurt him/her if s/he swallowed any
and if you aren't ready to move on after your pets die then you arent in a good enough phycogocal state to have pets. bury the cat or burn/ keep ashes
YDI
people > animals

#291 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:18pm by thabeast

Why do you all have to reply to the first comment when your comment has nothing to do with what they said?

YOU GUYS ARE SO FUCKING ANNOYING. It makes it so difficult to read.
Quit being attention whores and just post like you're supposed to. God damn it.

#292 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:27pm by Snackbars

#280 pets do more than companionship. why do you think people bring animals to the hospitals and nursing homes to see sick people. they make them feel better which in some cases causes recovery depending on the sickness

#294 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:36pm by brittanixOo

@145 The thing about cockroaches is that they are pests and insects too. Nobody is going to mourn the loss of a pest. You may claim human are intellilectually superior but you yourself have just proven that you are morally inferior. It's people like you that do not value life and should be locked away. I'm guessing either you have never had a pet or you really never should. Just because they can't speak English doesn't meen they can't communicate. My cat, for instance meows to get my attention and shows me what he wants or needs. If he needs food he meows to get my attention then leads me to his bowl. And by that very same logic I can say that Humans are animals so I should be able to go around hunting people without anybody caring. Also, I don't think the cockroach really suffers from pain and if it does, not for very long at all. You should probably see a psychologist or something because you need help. You should study up on morals while you're at that major university of yours.

#299 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:00pm by Repguy27

Are you really that dumb. How can even say humans=animals and say it is ok to get a cat stuffed. Does that mean when one of your family members dies, you are going to bring them to the freaking taxidermist and say I want a pose that really makes him look like he is still alive, or I want him to look elegant. No becasue thats not ok. I think its weird that someone would stuff a pet but at least that shows that they do not think of the pet as human, and getting it stuffed proves that. I have a cat and a dog and love both of my pets that we have had for 10 and 13 yrs. I would save my mother or my sister or a random stranger from a burning building before i would save my pets. If anyone would save animals over people then they do not deserve to be a person. I dont know how better to say people>animals.

#303 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:09pm by cem5202

#145...people keep animals like cockroaches as pets too. If your cat claws at your face and leaves scratches...that makes your pet a pest. Like I said, you only love the animal if it's tamed and trained. Would you keep a violent cat as a pet?

Since you started off with the whole "people like you" crap, I just want to say that people like you are the ones who will wear leather shoes, eat hamburgers, and step on bugs and claim to be the best animal lovers.

#304 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:41pm by curryndricegirll

#54 - On 07/26/2009 at 8:44pm by jackdizz

Too many negative votes, comment buried. Show the comment.

People who get their animals stuffed scare me. D:
You can always just get another cat. I don't see a reason to stuff a cat... it's creepy.
There are also people who make clothes and stuff out of their animals' hair. :D

#67 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:04pm by MzMegs

You scare me more than the people who stuff their cats. Not only because of the happy smilie when talking about people making clothes off their dead pets (which is downright screwed up), but worst, because you said they "could just get another cat".

That's SO not the same. And you can't replace a life like that.
If someone loses a child, you don't tell them "yeah, whatever, put on your big girl panties and get pregnant again, it's no big deal!", do you?! It's very similar, for a lot of people.

The OP is creepy for stuffing their kitty, but you're worse.

#73 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:10pm by Moemoemoe

#54 obviously they do
they probably loved that cat and people on here are idiots for judging them as being creepy
but they should have hidden it somewhere her dog couldnt get to it because it probably hates cats or hated that cat anyway and wanted to destroy it

#77 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:19pm by blargity

#73 I think you mean take off your panties, not put them on ;)

#86 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:37pm by prb

Actually, I'd like to disagree... there's a great deal of difference between a child and a pet. Would you recommend a parent get their dead kid stuffed and sit it on the mantelpiece? The argument goes both ways. And the best way to get over the loss of one pet is to get another. True story. It's an animal - it's not self-aware like humans. They have personality and we love them dearly, true, but at the end of the day... it's still an animal. People who treat their pets like children have issues.

#96 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:46pm by tari_joon

#73 that is a totally abject and stupid comparison. A child is your own flesh and blood, your creation.. AND **IMPORTANT** an intelligent being that is capable of thoughts feelings and skills. A pet is something that you may grow very attached to but it is not any of the above.

#151 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:45pm by friday1892

#151... what about adopted children? Do they count less because they aren't their parents' "flesh and blood"?

#161 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:56pm by jewjewbee

@73 Children and cats aren't the same, even if some people think they are. o_o
And the "happy" smiley was kind of sarcastic. :l

#162 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:57pm by MzMegs

@73
You and people like you disgust me.
Animals are not the same as humans.
The fact that you compare losing a child to losing a pet makes me sick.
How about going up to someone who's child died and saying "Yeah, i know how you feel, my cat died."

#166 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:08am by AtoZnumbersand_

Also 73 you can replace a cat. It's just a cat you stupid tool.

Also OP stuffing your cat is soooo creepy. You must be a pretty weird and strange person.

#167 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:13am by AtoZnumbersand_

Fuck children. They're annoying and cats/dogs are way better. Children grow up to little fucktards unlike pets :D

#171 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:19am by eskimopanda

You're saying animals can't love? Yeah that's why try to protect their owners and some animals have even saved their owners lives, because they don't love and feel, right?

#172 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:24am by eskimopanda

about the adoption post... thanks for completely missing the point. Anyone who thinks animals = humans (even symplifing it into an equation itself is retarded) and who would compare the death of a child to a cat- please, please , please never, ever, ever have a kid. One you have already illustrated you have defective genes (your intelligence is low) and therefore your genes should not be passed on to any future generations. Two you are not ready intellectually and emotionally to raise a child and would screw up.

#175 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:30am by friday1892

I'm agreeing there.
Animals require less and love you unconditionally. I've heard of plenty horror stories (from 'real life') of children and parents falling out. Oh, and pets don't go apeshit and murder you in your sleep or otherwise (Lizzie Borden, anyone?). A cat or dog will not disown you either.

#176 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:30am by Melpomene

Um, pets have thoughts, feelings, skills. Tell me your dog doesn't get excited, get sad, or THINK? Seriously.

#187 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:49am by amandawins

@161, i thought the same thing when i read that comment.

#191 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:54am by randomm

#171...all I have to say to you is...now we all know where you came from.

#228 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:30am by curryndricegirll

Truth of the matter is, you only love your animals tamed. If your pet attacks you or your children...it's on to the streets for them. If your kid attacked the pet, you'd probably just ground them. here's why children are different than pets. You raise your children into becoming someone or something. You don't raise a pet; you keep it for companionship.

#231 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:36am by curryndricegirll

wow you are the biggest moron in the world. I am pretty sure you were a kid too. Just because you were a little demon tree hugging faggot doesn't mean every kid is like you.

#21 - On 07/26/2009 at 8:23pm by MaramaBreaksFace

I agree, corn chips without salsa (or queso) is weird.

I just thought of this.... as an idea.... i've seen little miniature kitties carved from wood that use real cat fur (not the skin, mind ye, just the fur). If one wants to keep a memento of a pet around that would be much less creepy than having the pet itself stuffed.

#58 - On 07/26/2009 at 8:50pm by harmony88

so i agree with this except in the case of the multigrain tostitos. They are actually pretty damn good w/out salsa. However store bought queso imo is kinda gross.

#155 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:51pm by friday1892

Isnt stuffing cats... Or other animals... Er.. wierd and gross?

#154 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:49pm by friday1892

Rowdy from scrubs was the first thing i thought of after
reading this fml, lmao

#246 - On 07/27/2009 at 3:25am by jem1991

Haha Rowdy was awesome. Thankfully - he didn't actually belong to JD or Turk originally... they bought him at a garage sale. I'm not sure if that makes it more or less creepy XD

#322 - On 07/27/2009 at 9:17pm by tari_joon

As someone who has buried two beloved kitties in less than a year (they were both about 18, so they lived long lives, but it is still sad) I say FYL simply because your kitty died.

...But, I did have my cats properly buried in a pet memorial cemetery, and never once thought of having them stuffed....

Yeah...

#15 - On 07/26/2009 at 8:18pm by thejoz

And for those without such luxuries as a pet cemetery, a hole in the backyard works, too, especially if you've got a lot of land. We've got 4 pets buried in our backyard, marked by little more than big rocks so we don't accidently dig them up.

#36 - On 07/26/2009 at 8:30pm by harmony88

That's really weird...but still sad. How did your dog not recognize the cat?

#16 - On 07/26/2009 at 8:18pm by jewjewbee

What?!

I'd laugh at your comment if this whole situation wasn't so sad.

What makes you think recognizing him would have stopped the dog?! You've been watching too much Disney stuff?

Incidentally, I wonder if maybe the stuffing was poorly done. Otherwise, the dog wouldn't have viewed the stuffed cat as food supply. (The true reason for this to have happened, as he obviously didn't "mistake it for a chew toy". Remaining smells perhaps? :( Not properly done skin preservation?)

I'd contact the person who did it to ask them about it in case it could be that. :(

FYL for the OP who lost her kitty, anyway. :(

#50 - On 07/26/2009 at 8:42pm by Moemoemoe

After years of torment from the cat the dog finally got the last laugh!

#343 - On 08/01/2009 at 4:38pm by Queen_of_Night

I think that would be you, sir. Leave the OP alone and respect her loss.

Even if there's some bad on her side for her blatant lack of respect in her posting such a sad event on a site for people to laugh of it.
R.I.P. Kitty. :(

#69 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:07pm by Moemoemoe

o wow, why would you stuff a dead animal?

#18 - On 07/26/2009 at 8:21pm by Anonymus7

what normal person stuffs their dead animal and sets it around the house for display!?

#19 - On 07/26/2009 at 8:21pm by GongButterfly

If this happened to me, by the end of the day I would have TWO stuffed animals.

#20 - On 07/26/2009 at 8:23pm by Arcterion

Creeper.

#37 - On 07/26/2009 at 8:31pm by apastry

Here's an idea: don't stuff your freaking cat. I get that you're grieving because I love my cats dearly but this would only delay the getting over it part of grieiving. Letting go completely sucks but you get over it eventually. However, if you do something like this where you stuff the animal so you can look at it every day and pretend it's still alive, you'll never be able to move on and get into a happy place. LET GO. It sucks at first but it gets better. And also, don't you know what they to do animals in order to stuff them? They skin them, meaning cut their skin and fur off of their body and then throw away the rest. They put the skin and fur and shit over what I think is like styrofoam type stuff that they first sculpt to fit the skin. Last, they make fake eyeballs so it'll look like the animal is alive. I'm sorry, I do not want that thing in my house, it's gross as fuck.

#38 - On 07/26/2009 at 8:31pm by Tarynkd

As a pet owner, I would never think of stuffing my cats.

I would like to remember them for how they were: hyper, cute, funny; rather than watching them staying still on a couch. Too depressing.

#45 - On 07/26/2009 at 8:37pm by cheertigers

I'm sorry but I actually laughed out loud when I read this.

#46 - On 07/26/2009 at 8:37pm by ccreel6800

To be fair to the dog, a stuffed cat sounds like a genuine chew toy. YDI for getting it stuffed in the first place and for leaving it in a place where your dog could get to it. Why would you think the dog wouldn't go for it? Fake fur, plush inside - sounds like a good toy.

#47 - On 07/26/2009 at 8:39pm by Hydra

Yeah...usually people who don't want to give up the remains of a loved one cremate the body and keep the ashes in an urn. You could probably even get an urn with the cat's picture etched on it.

YDI for stuffing your pet, that's just gross :S What did you expect the dog to do?!

#75 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:13pm by AnneFTW

Is it just me or does this EXACTLY remind you of that episode on Family Guy where Brian visits his mother , and shes dead & stuffed and used as a coffee table ? 'Cause thats exactly what I thought of when I seen this .

FYL OP . Sorry for the loss of your cat .

But , YDI for putting your stuffed cat on display . Its just cruel , and more depressing for you . You'd have to see your dead cat everyday . :\

#76 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:19pm by XBeckster

I did actually think of that! And how when Stewie and Brian were carrying her, Stewie broke off her tail and said something about her not feelin' it anyways? Hahaha yeah.

#158 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:52pm by SweetieLish

People stuff a deers head is that creepy

#78 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:21pm by tipsy337

#140 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:24pm by irishlassie731

LMFAO. I got really freaked for a second before I finished reading the post. Thanks for the laugh.

#142 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:31pm by irishlassie731

YDI dude. Do you even know what taxidermists do to stuff your cat? They fucking scoop out all his insides. It's gross and wrong. I love my cat very dearly, but seriously? Too far. What the hell did you expect would happen when you put it in front of your dog? Douchebag.

#91 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:41pm by tari_joon

Aw. I understand the whole stuffing the cat thing because as weird as it is, I would still like to have a cat around. It would be a little odd, yes, but comforting in a way. It seems better than keeping them in your memory because memories fade. If you were to have gotten the cat cremated, the container could break so I could see why you would get it stuffed, although it is weird. Sorry for your loss. I recently lost a 6 week old kitten... I buried her though.

#94 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:45pm by Sweetkitty3094

Why would you get it stuffed?

#95 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:46pm by yeti09

I'm gonna stuff my cat and let my dog use it as a chew toy.

k, i get that ur sad about ur cat, but thats freakin wierd.....

#100 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:55pm by djmurph316

YDI for stuffing your damn cat!

#101 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:56pm by nephewsam

OP, when you finally die would you want your want your family to stuff your remains and set you on their couch? I'm guessing probably not. So why would you think your cat would want the same thing? Stuffing your cat is wrong in so many ways.
Whenever a pet of mine has died the vet has asked "do you want me to cremate him or were you going to bury him?". They never even asked if I wanted him stuffed.

#102 - On 07/26/2009 at 9:57pm by EMR

Ahaha, my brother and I like to give my mum shit by telling her that when she dies we're going to have her stuffed and use her as a hat stand. She laughs right along with us :D

Am I the only one on this thread who doesn't think taxidermy is wrong? Sure, it's a little creepy and I would never do it, but hey OP, whatever floats your boat.

BUT I still clicked YDI because you left the poor thing where your dog could get at it.

#232 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:37am by plethora

Wow really does suck to be your cat.

But then again, why would you stuff it? Disturbing the dead much.

#119 - On 07/26/2009 at 10:33pm by admiral4life35

Dog got the revenge FTW. The never liked that cat while the cat was alive.
YDI for stuffing any living thing. I really want to remember who dies, rather you should really remember who lives. Get over cats and living things, everything is temporary.

#121 - On 07/26/2009 at 10:36pm by Imawhalerider

# 105 stfu it's just a cat. the cat is dead he dosent know he's being stuffed. Just like when people die, idklc if I'm cremated or stuffed I know I'm in a better place.

#122 - On 07/26/2009 at 10:37pm by tipsy337

who the hell stuffs their cat?? gross

#124 - On 07/26/2009 at 10:38pm by esklstar

Hm. Perhaps a couple people here should read a Joseph Campbell book on death rituals or least one on Mummification. Get your pagan on. Stuffing is not my thing but gah... each their own. Although that one grandma comment did make me lmao

Sorry Op. kitteh is fine now.

#125 - On 07/26/2009 at 10:39pm by mercyFML

Still, mummies were buried in pyramids, not kept in the next pharaoh's living-room...

#237 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:50am by cocacola999

Fucking gross and creepy. Like someone said, I want to remember my pets for the way they were - not a corpse. This isn't the same as ashes either, I'm sure we'd all be disgusted to see anyone's stuffed cadaver in the house.

And why is anyone defending this? They're keeping a corpse in their house for display. Lambasting them for doing something so disturbing has nothing to do with "respecting their loss". I find it an insult to her pet and probably something is wrong mentally with the OP.

#128 - On 07/26/2009 at 10:45pm by lovesucksxxx

There once was a man whose wife died. He gave her a fantastic tomb just outside his house.... and eventually, moved into the tomb with her, making a bed next to her casket.
People do odd things to mourn their loved ones. [shrugs]

#130 - On 07/26/2009 at 10:48pm by DameGreyWulf

Yes... perhaps their HUMAN loved ones. And while it can be said that many believe their dogs & cats to be 'part of their families,' 128 is correct. It's creepy. Where would you even keep it? A mantel?

#133 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:02pm by nephewsam

Well... stuffing a cat is no different than hunting trophies such as mounted heads, really. Except you actually preferred the cat to be alive.

#236 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:47am by DameGreyWulf

Agghhh...
I love my cats, but I don't think I'd ever stuff them. To me, that would be more heartbreaking to see them; "OH KITTY'S AL- oh wait."

FYL for taking the trouble and having the dog rip her up... yikes, that had to be awful to see; like she died all over again.
But, YDI for doing that without thinking of the dog in the first place. I mean, smells funny, squishy, looks like former feline room mate... to a dog that is an obvious chew toy. Should have put it somewhere safer.

#129 - On 07/26/2009 at 10:46pm by DameGreyWulf

In my personal opinion, I think that's disgusting and I would never have my dead animal stuffed. If I ever got over the grossness, it would be even more heartbreaking to see it every day.

I think you should have buried it. Or if you wanted to keep some part of it, keep the ashes in a special place -- where the dog couldn't find them.

#131 - On 07/26/2009 at 10:55pm by xoxoCheer

you shoulve put it somewhere safer.

#132 - On 07/26/2009 at 10:59pm by domii

seriously who gets there cat stuffed that is just plain weird, get her cremated and just place the urn on a mantle or something. I can guarantee you know one will want to come by if they got to sit there and see your creepy stuffed cat starring at them

#134 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:03pm by MrCanoe

#137 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:10pm by tyson346

Why? It's a messed up thing to do and everyone has the right to express their opinion about the OP's weird-ass attempt to keep her dead cat close. No reason to flip.

#141 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:29pm by irishlassie731

#143 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:34pm by mercyFML

#139 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:15pm by JayTroi

Alright your gross and ur dog ate the cat?

#156 - On 07/26/2009 at 11:51pm by mzbasketball

I wish I could claim this one as fake, but there are CRAZY sick people out there to think that it is ok to stuff their beloved pet after they die. Somehow these suck MF's think that they are still animal lovers if they have their pet skinned and gutted and have that skin stretched over material that makes them look slightly like the pet they once had.

Go look at those leather seats in the car. That's a cow and you basically did the same thing to your pet. Nice...

who gets their cat stuffed after it dies? kinda wierd

YOU TOTALLY DESERVE THAT.. WHO KEEPS A DEAD CAT?!??! WHAT YOU WALK BY THE COUCH EVERY MORNIN AND SAY GOOD MORNING SCRUFFLES HAHAHAH

#174 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:27am by Kpage1508

@42, this is completely different from keeping someone's ashes. my mom kept her old dog's ashes, she didn't stuff. it. stuffing pets is disgusting.

@145, most hardcore PETA members don't even believe in keeping pets, so you should try knowing your facts before typing up some bullshit. ;)

#177 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:34am by sarahmargeurite

Wait, so all these comments, and no one makes a reference about her being a crazy cat lady?

#179 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:35am by audax

Holy SHIT you're right! How did that happen?

#261 - On 07/27/2009 at 5:41am by null

...? you stuffed your cat? enough said right there... the fml is not that your dog ate it... it is the fact that you stuffed your dead cat and posted a comment about it... fyl you sick and twisted pack rat.

#180 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:36am by bara

Why must we all be hateful? Has no one really seen a stuffed animal? Plenty of people stuff animals when the hunt them. So she stuffed her cat? Big deal. Everyone needs to really stop commenting on how sick she is and focus one the fact her dog just chewed up a couple hundred dollar taxidermy job.

#181 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:39am by yourstruly3465

Too many negative votes, comment buried. Show the comment.

Humans were given charge over the animals therefore humans > animals.
read Genesis in the Bible.

#182 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:41am by christie91

Seeing that not everyone is Christian or Jewish, you can't use that as evidence on a site like this. Nice try though.

#188 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:51am by bexox

Also, The Bible was written by humans, therefore they WOULD write that to make themselves feel all mighty and powerful.

P.S. the only reason why we can speak (this is at a comment waaaayyy above, I forget which number) and our pets can't is because through evolution our voice boxes dropped down our larynx; it's also the reason why we can swallow things the wrong way and other animals can't ;)

#278 - On 07/27/2009 at 10:08am by XOfiestypixie

Everyone....this is NOT a laughing matter. I know EXACTLY how the OP feels...i had my grandmother stuffed and my dog went after her..it was awful...

LMFAO @ 183... STUFFED GRANDMOTHER!

I'm sorry everyone is making fun of you. I can relate to you. If you have animals you love them like you're own blood. I'm sorry about what happened.

#192 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:01am by celiaeatsballz

i think thats gross, but i dont like furs and stuffed bears or whatever either. but some people are like "thats so gross that you had an animal stuffed"... but lots of people and restaurants and stuff have stuffed cows and deer and all...

but it is a bit odd getting something personal stuffed..

#193 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:02am by randomm

and also to all you saying Humans>animals, yes I agree but that has nothing to do with anything. You can love an animal more than a human.

Sorry to hear about your cat's passing and the dog thinking it was a chew toy... but stuffing your pet is a little strange.

#202 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:23am by Amkii

STUFF YOUR CAT! stupidest thing ive heard in a long time. does no one else love you?

#203 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:24am by sexyladiesman

This is quite possibly the most ridiculous set of comments to any FML I've ever seen.

For one thing, last time I checked homo sapiens, humans, were in fact in the animal kingdom. Therefore, what are you using as your definition of animals, those of you along the "humans > animals" line. How are you separating us from other species? I think that there are a lot of species out there much more "civilized" than us.

Next, the fact that the OP stuffed their beloved pet is much the same as keeping the ashes of pets or other family members. It is a bit of a strange way to keep their memory, but who the hell are you guys to judge that? Whether you put "FML" or "YDI" should be based on your opinions as to whether the OP's life was fucked because the dog got the stuffed cat, not whether you think its strange to stuff a beloved pet.

Are there really so many people who are so cold to their pets?

OP, that sucks. Hope it wasn't too badly damaged.

#207 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:36am by bipolaradhdfml

Why does everyone seem to think that the FML discussion boards have to be so vulgar and rude? I don't understand the world we live in.

#213 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:48am by s_t_e_p_h

Aww sorry about your cat hun.. I could never get my pets stuffed, but, I get why you did it.

#211 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:42am by Princess_LC

Why would u EVER keep a dead cat!!?

#214 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:51am by 1234five

What a Cat-tas-stuffy! Someday, you'll laugh over your dog chewing up your cat. Actually, I find it hard to believe. A dog would know it's genuine cat fur, etc. I have yet to see a dog chew up a cat -- live or dead. And if a dog comes across something dead, he is most likely to roll on it and not chew it up.

#215 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:52am by doof_fisch

well it's kinda your falt for leaving it in reach of your dog since the dog might not know any better. so, I guess, YDI.

#216 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:54am by bongoboy

wth!?!!! when my cute and nice dog died( may her little heart rest in peace ) I had her laid to rest not stuffed like a trophy!

okay, "sexyladiesman" you really pissed me off.

i can understand people holding onto loved ones ashes...but they arent stuffing their family members n putting them on display.
i agree with your name...FUCK YOUR CATS LIFE...for having such a fucked up owner. it would have been better if you had buried it or kept its ashes...you had to go disrespect it n have it stuffed to be on display...
you make me sick...

#225 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:19am by Katex7

I have to agree with all of the people who have called you a sick fuck, OP. That's disgusting. Even animals deserve respect in death. Next time, do the right thing and dispose of your pet's remains with dignity. I in no way support your decision to have had your poor cat stuffed, but if you were going to, you might have considered treating it with some care. It's a dead animal. Dogs are scavengers. Do the math. Also, please don't stuff your poor dog when it dies.

#226 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:21am by kellster

Im not clicking YDI because OP got their cat stuffed, I personally wouldnt do it but to each their own...we all grieve in our own ways. I did click YDI because the OP shouldve known that the dog would likely chew up the...er....remains of the cat. Dogs love to chew on everything and anything so Im sure a stuffed cat would be pretty tempting. OP shouldve set the cat somewhere more safe, especially after going through the hassle and care to get it stuffed.

Still, Im sorry for you lost OP, you might want to get your dog checked out though because Im sure there are some chemicals and what not in that stuffed cat that arent too good for a pups tummy.

#230 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:36am by SOMAgirl

srsly, why would anyone get their cat stuff, just bury it like a normal person, lol.

You know I had a neighbor bury their deceased infant in the backyard (w/ City approval). This is almost as fucked up as that...

#241 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:58am by Queen_of_Night

hey crunkcupcake if you really believe that then take all your clothes off and go live in the wild as equals with them then. sure we are mammals but our brains are much more evolved than theirs and we live according to our civilized code of ethics. would you stuff your parents? i dont think so. i mean wouldent you rather know its resting in peace?

#242 - On 07/27/2009 at 3:06am by sexyladiesman

Ok first I gotta say sorry about you cat, my cat died a couple months ago and it was sad too.
Second, I think you should've gone to see a shrink instead of a taxidermist. Seriously, the way you handled the cats death is creepy at best and you could probably use some help dealing with it.
Third, I find it funny how you people say humans are so much better and superior to animals then you go clean up after your dog. Another thing, nobody said stuffing deers and other animals wasn't creepy, but at the very least that is because the hunter is proud of his achievement not because they are grieving it. Btw as far as being self aware and respect their lives and all that, answer this: why is it that when a goose gets shot, usually 2 other geese stay with it until it dies before flying off? Doesn't that sound something like a dying family member? You stay with them until they die then bury them or whatever and then go on with your life. Many animals appear to grieve for loses, especially elephants. As far as making tools and all that tell me this, why would a lion possibly need to make tools when it's got all it needs already? And how would they make the tools? It's not like they have thumbs or anything.

#243 - On 07/27/2009 at 3:09am by Repguy27

and the answer to your question repguy is because dogs dont know to clean up their mess. earth would become a hazardous waste if humans did not care for it. and you sure wouldent live in a house or have any mode of transportation. we were givin dominion over the creatures of the earth for a reason.

#245 - On 07/27/2009 at 3:23am by sexyladiesman

@245 By that logic then would you also say that remote parts of the world are harzardous wastelands? Other creatures would break it down over time. I do know obviously that they can't clean up after yourselves but you have to admit it's pretty funny when people say "Humans are superior, now I gotta go clean up after my dog."

#293 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:33pm by Repguy27

Ok this is really ridiculous.
Humans are animals, and therefore are on a close level. Just because we don't 'lick our genitals' doesn't mean were better. Animals don't always have water and soap nearby do they?? Just because we can use tools in a much more advanced way doesn't mean were better! Evolution made us stand out, and that doesn't mean we can just kick the others around. Humans are much too high and mighty for our own good. We are racist and go to war for stupid reasons. Many of us are corrupt and wish bad things on others, while animals are almost always helpful to each other.
If anything, were on a lower level than them in how nice we are.

Stuffing a cat is kind of ridiculous though...I would rather have it cremated.
To people saying that pets aren't family members: you obviously have never owned a pet. You just think they're lower than you because you can't understand them when they bark, meow, etc. You wouldn't think that just because you can't understand your Chinese neighbor that he doesn't matter, would you? Grow up. All of my pets are family members to me.

#247 - On 07/27/2009 at 3:29am by superfastRAWR

Haha! You PETA freaks are hilarious.

#249 - On 07/27/2009 at 3:37am by oldskoolman85

Actually, YOU are the ridiculous one. People like you annoy me.

"Just because we don't 'lick our genitals' doesn't mean were better."
Yes, actually, it does. It shows our brains are developed enough to understand that our genitals are not going to get any cleaner by licking them with our dirty mouths, and that we will probably get sick trying.

"Animals don't always have water and soap nearby do they??"
Can't believe I'm actually gracing this with an answer... But as far as I know, no animal, other than a human, would willing pick up water and soap, even if it was nearby, to clean themselves with it. In fact, many animals would attempt to claw your eyes out if you even came close to them with a bar of soap or a bucket of water.

"Just because we can use tools in a much more advanced way doesn't mean were better!"
Again, yes it does. It shows are brains are more advanced, and that we have adapted better for our survival. Thus, we are better than other animals.

"Evolution made us stand out, and that doesn't mean we can just kick the others around."
Nobody said we had any right to kick other animals around. We're not debating animal rights here. The argument was that humans are and SHOULD be more important than an animal. If someone threatened to kill your dog if you didn't kill another human being, your dog needs to be the one to die. If you choose them over another human, you need therapy. End of story.

"Humans are much too high and mighty for our own good. We are racist and go to war for stupid reasons."
Animals are no better. Some kill each other simply because they're in the same area. Any territorial male of many species will kill another because they dislike having that other male in their space. Imagine a human male killing another man because he walked into his yard. Tell me, how is that not stupid? We are human, thus we do stupid things and make mistakes. Also, some of us have a bad personality. Same with animals. Neither are better on that front.

"Many of us are corrupt and wish bad things on others, while animals are almost always helpful to each other. "
Many of us? All of us. Everyone wishes something bad on another human being at some point in their life. Even you're not exempt, so get off your high horse, hypocrite. Have you ever wished that you had gotten something instead of someone else? A gift, money, an opportunity, a boy/girl, etc? Then you've wished something 'bad' on another person. Get over it. And animals are NOT always helpful to each other. Jungle law, strongest will survive, etc. Some help each other, but they also turn against others of their own species as well. Think of lions, for example. They hunt together, they protect each other, they live and reproduce together. But, they're also killers who will attack another lion if they feel the urge to. Some male lions will even eat their own cubs.

"If anything, were on a lower level than them in how nice we are."
Um, no. Not even close. A domesticated animal is only 'nice' because its had any feral genes beaten out of it. You want to know how your 'nice' cat or 'nice' dog was bred? They mated them through many generations to come up with a spoiled creature who has to rely on humans for its safety. True cats and dogs, when left in the wild, are anything BUT nice. Try petting a dingo (one of the original 'dogs' that were used to breed the domesticated dogs living in your home today) and tell me how 'nice' it is. I'll be laughing.

"To people saying that pets aren't family members: you obviously have never owned a pet. You just think they're lower than you because you can't understand them when they bark, meow, etc."
I currently have three dogs, several fish, and a bird. I recently lost a cat. I have had several reptiles, rodents, and a rabbit in the past. All were well cared for and dearly loved. Do I think that they were family members? No. They were friends at best. I DID love them, but I would NEVER place them above a human life in terms of importance. I think they're lower than me simply because they are. Their brains are less developed than any human's, they DO NOT have the ability to form thoughts, despite whatever you may think, and, to shorten things up, they are less developed in every area. Yes, they can feel things. But they are not able to think like we can. They can feel happy, sad, pain, etc. but they cannot think to themselves, 'I really love my owner, s/he's so nice. I'm going to go play now'. Anyone who believes they can is a moron. They have the mentality of a newborn human child, thus a full grown human is superior. And yes, animals might be better killers/hunters (however you'd like to phrase that) when both a human and animal are stripped of all unnatural weapons. But we've adapted, and thus are better. The strongest will survive and all that. Even if you consider humans as animals, we're superior. Get over it.

"You wouldn't think that just because you can't understand your Chinese neighbor that he doesn't matter, would you?"
To be honest, this is the most pathetic argument I've ever heard. If I can't understand him, no, he doesn't matter to me. I won't be able to get to know him, thus I won't care for him like I would someone who I'm able to communicate with. Would I be okay with the guy getting murdered? Obviously not. Would I be okay with someone murdering a defenseless house pet? No. But there is a difference. Would I be okay with someone choosing to kill the man over the pet? Definitely not. A human being should be more important. Animals, despite how much I love them, are replaceable. Its like someone tearing up a favorite book (I'm an avid reader and I grow attached to my individual books, thus why I used this as an example. Feel free to replace it with a favorite instrument, movie, etc. Whatever floats your boat.). I would be extremely sad, as there are probably fond memories attached to that particular book, but I can replace it. Same thing with an animal. I'll be terribly sad when they die, but I can always go buy another animal at the pet store or adopt a needy animal from the shelter. I cried like a baby for days when my cat died of old age, but I have gotten over it and will find a new kitten to replace her. Its just the way it works. If my brother died, however, I would never be able to replace him. Even considering the idea makes me sick. Nothing could ever replace a member of my HUMAN family. Another animal could replace my cat, who was once part of my PETS. There is a big difference.

"Grow up."
No, YOU grow up. You need to lose your naive outlook on animals and be a little more mature. Actually think things through and research those creatures that you claim are more important than humans. Be a little more loyal to your species maybe? I'm not defending or condoning the abuse or mistreatment of animals, but I do believe that helping another human should be your first priority, and that humans should automatically earn more respect until they prove otherwise. Personally, I don't believe in being nice to something that would rather eat me than get to know me. At least with a human you can talk to it. An animal is always going to place its loyalty with its own species, unlike some humans *coughhintcoughcough*, unless the creature has been domesticated through years and years of breeding. Even then they will sometimes choose their own species over their caregiver.

All of my pets are pets to me, and I love them dearly just the way they are.

To everyone else:
Any other species than a human should never be considered more important than a human life, or even AS important. Anyone who disagrees can feel free to argue with me to prove their point, or at least attempt to, but be warned that I will return all of your opinions with reasons why you are wrong. And try to be civil when arguing with me, you look like a moron otherwise.

To the OP:
To each their own I suppose. I personally feel that stuffing an animal is a bit odd, but it does suck that your cat's doll was attacked by your dog. That must have been hard on you. Next time place it where the dog can't reach? FYL, nobody deserves that, even if they did have a moment of stupidity.

#266 - On 07/27/2009 at 7:26am by jhowser

Vermelle, please stop stating your opinion as fact. You are just another person, you are not qualified to determine the IMPORTANCE of anything, let alone over anything else. I think we all understand your opinion, and thank you for sharing it, but that should be the end of it.

#279 - On 07/27/2009 at 10:09am by lmmmr

To all those who argue over whether humans are equal to or better than animals:
humans are different from most animals in many ways. we use tools, we walk upright, we have many different languages and can learn to speak others, etc. whether this makes us better than them or not is really not for me to decide, seeing as animals have better natural instincts, like sense of smell and hearing.
and as for whether we should treat animals better, consider this. a human choosing a baby over a puppy is in no way different than a mother dog choosing her puppy over a baby. what i'm trying to say is that most adults of all species will pick their young over another species' young. it's just how it works.
also, how is a human eating meat different than a lion or tiger eating meat? humans are naturally built to eat meat and vegetables. while i have no problem with anyone who chooses not to eat meat, please don't try to make me feel bad by saying it's wrong or evil.

and to the OP: while i personally would not have stuffed a dead pet, it was your cat so it's your decision. i clicked fyl because you were probably not in your best state and got distracted.

#282 - On 07/27/2009 at 10:38am by marya43

I agree completely the world would be better off without humans. Actually there's a show now called Life After People it's pretty interesting.

#295 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:40pm by Repguy27

Ok I really don't want to respond to all of this but I will say this. As far as animals licking theirr genitals, actually it does make them cleaner. Cats have a special salivia that acts as a deortorizer and cleaner. I'm not sure about other animals but I really doubt most animals do that anyway. I've never heard of an elephant doing that or a bird.

#296 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:45pm by Repguy27

Ewww for stuffing animals, its sick. Just coz you love your cat like a family member, it doesn't mean you have to stuff it. Like you wouldn't stuff your grandpa after he died. Wrong...just wrong!

No, cats are NOT equal to humans. They are below us on the food chain. They aren't even good enough to be beasts of burden like a cow or donkey. They're just here to look cute and pee on your stuff. They should have just buried it in the backyard.

#285 - On 07/27/2009 at 11:36am by missryss

getting your cat stuffed is really creepy :[

in response to that crazy long post, gotta say, having a more developed cortex might let you type shit like that, but i'd prefer a friendly golden retriever. don't get me wrong, i typically value humans more, being human myself and all, but all that business about who's better is entirely relative.

#297 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:49pm by haleycole

you guys are all retarded losing a pet is hard to do. i've had a dog since i was 2 and when i was 14 he died and thats the most i've ever cried in my life. i cried more with him than my uncle and great grandma... maybce cuz i didnt really know them but still. and i know for a fact he had emotions because when he heard our car he would be waiting at the gate outside and when you were getting ready to leave he'd get sad and follow you around... you guys are fucking stupid.

#298 - On 07/27/2009 at 12:54pm by brittanixOo

#300 - On 07/27/2009 at 1:02pm by Repguy27

#302 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:08pm by whokilledkayte

#307 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:49pm by Jestre

my cat died today too. :(
i wasn't there. and my mom told me she took her to the vet and had her put to sleep. but in truth, she shot her.

#309 - On 07/27/2009 at 3:50pm by taradylan

WTF is wrong with you people? I fail to see why its creepy.
There is NOTHING wrong with stuffing your pet when it dies

Humans = animals.

If you say different, then when you die, and go to hell, I will laugh my ass off and tell your family that you deserved it. :)

#311 - On 07/27/2009 at 4:14pm by affirno

Haha, I totally thought it was going to say: Today, I got my cat stuffed after her death. I brought her home and set her down by my couch. I guess my dog felt frisky. FML

I thinking stuffing animals is a bit weird, it should have a proper barial.

#312 - On 07/27/2009 at 5:18pm by Nutsi

that is so disturbing that you would stuff your dead cat

#313 - On 07/27/2009 at 5:51pm by mssassy

YDI for having a stuffed cat.

sucks about it dying, though.

#272/276:
"Right right, they're less developed in every area?
So.. you can hear all the shit they can hear, right? You can smell just as well as a bear, yes? You should probably go to some scientist so he can study you, as you're one of a kind!"
I probably should have clarified that I was referring to the fact that their brains are less developed in every area, not the animals themselves. I thought it was a bit obvious, but after reading through what I said I see how you came to the conclusion that I was talking about the animal and not its brain.

"Also, haven't you ever heard a dogs mouth is ten times cleaner than a humans? Animals are built so they can lick themselves - and it is not unhealthy for them. Your argument on the point that we 'know' it's dirty and don't do it has nothing to do with anything. They are built so they can - we aren't."
Actually, you're partially wrong on this point. I would read this article before you go around telling people that: http://mammals.suite101.com/article.cfm/is_a_dogs_mouth_cleaner_than_a_humans
The only reason a human licking their wounds is any less healthy is due to a lack of roughness on our tongues. A dog's saliva does no more to help their wound than a humans, and most domestic dogs will get an infection if allowed to lick their wounds without intervention.

"(Let me just say to people who are saying humans are animals, truth, but I'm going to say animals vs humans as a form of argument)."
I'm doing the same, for the record. Much less confusing that way.

"I'll say that this all depends on the circumstances, but, humans are generally evil."
Really? You must have a very difficult life then. Do you always wonder, when alone in a room with a man, if he's going to rape you? Do you wonder if every person on a deserted street with you is going to take this chance to murder you? Why would you constantly think the worst of people? I don't believe humans are 'generally evil'. We're not perfect by any means, but not 'evil'. Most of the humans I know are fairly nice people. It saddens me to think about the type of people you must live with.

"I, in no way, think we are better than animals as you seem to do. More intelligent? Of course. So what if we're more intelligent? This doesn't make us better than them. It really doesn't."
What is your basis for being 'better' then? You should really look at the definition of 'superior'.

su⋅pe⋅ri⋅or  [suh-peer-ee-er, soo-]
–adjective
1. higher in station, rank, degree, importance, etc.
2. above the average in excellence, merit, intelligence, etc.
4. greater in quantity or amount

By that definition, found at dictionary.com for any who would like to know, we ARE superior. As the dominant species on this planet, we are superior. Yes, there are animals who are superior to us in terms of hearing, smell, ability to fly, etc. But, overall, we are superior due to our ability to adapt. Given free use of any human invention, a human will always defeat an animal. We've invented things to help us bridge the ability gap between us and animals, like planes for example. Thus, evolution.

"My main point will be that we're ruining the earth - the earth would be better without humans. Animals don't do that, sorry. If we still lived like the Indians did, then perhaps I would withdraw this as I think that would be the best way."
Agreed, but I don't see how that single point makes much of a difference. Yes, we're ruining the environment at the moment. Not my personal choice, as I'm Native American myself (You really shouldn't use the word Indian, if you want to be correct about it. The term 'Indian' makes me think of people from India, personally. Took me a second to realize you were talking about Native Americans. Then again, its not really that important.), but no reason to go around exterminating the whole human race. You can't blame the whole for the sins of the few. You don't kill a whole species of animal simply because one of them had a negative impact on humans or the earth. Why should humans be any different? You've already proven that humans are capable of respecting the earth and living without harming it by mentioning Native Americans. So, technically, the earth doesn't need all humans to disappear in order to be better off.

"No, we were smart enough to invent things, but none of these things do any good for the environment. There's no argument against this, it's plain truth."
Actually, you're wrong on this point. There are plenty of inventions that benefit the environment. You're just generalizing to make your point. For example, farmers use plenty of inventions to make their land more fertile and produce healthier crops, thus benefiting the earth. Some use pesticides or other chemicals, which damage the earth, but traditional farmers, like the Native Americans, were and are harmless. Rakes, water pails/buckets/cans, plows, and other farming tools are examples of inventions humans have created that 'do good for the environment'.

"You made fine points and examples of animal behavior versus human behavior, this is true. But it still can't remove the fact that the world would be better without us. "
Actually, the world would be better off without greed, not humans. Were humans stripped of all inventions that negatively impact the earth, they would be fine. Greed and becoming spoiled has lead us to continue using inventions we know harm the environment. We're too comfortable right now to care that we are harming earth.

"Animals aren't replaceable to me as they are to you. They count. If I were religious I'd argue that animals have souls. Just because we cannot communicate with them doesn't mean -anything-."
I never said they didn't count, I love all my past pets dearly. I do believe they have souls, and I think they have personalities. I don't, however, believe that they should be considered more important or equal to a human because of that. Animals are always going to be loyal to themselves and their species. Domestic animals are occasionally an exception to this, but only because we bred them to be that way. Domestic animals are, in a way, an invention of humans. Had they been left in the wild without human interference, they would be as wild as their cousins. Also, you should look up the definition of 'replaceable'.

re⋅place  [ri-pleys]
–verb (used with object), -placed, -plac⋅ing.
1. to assume the former role, position, or function of; substitute for (a person or thing): Electricity has replaced gas in lighting.
2. to provide a substitute or equivalent in the place of: to replace a broken dish.

To replace something is to provide a substitute, not to give you back the exact same thing. That would be impossible. You can't find another human being to replace your brother, sister, mother, father, friend, cousins, etc. It just doesn't work that way. Domestic animals are bred for their roles, however. Any animal at the pet store will provide a suitable replacement, even if you may not like it. Personally, I would never dream of trying to find a cat with the exact same personality as my old one. It isn't going to happen, and I would be a fool for trying. But I can always find another pet cat with a personality that I like to substitute. Thus, they're replaceable.

"In a way, an animal can be closer to you than a random 'Chinese neighbor' and communicate better. There should be no difference here."
I never said that they can't be. In fact, I believe I agreed with that statement in my first response. My only disagreement was that a human life should be more valuable. If you were go to court for killing that Chinese neighbor, they are not going to accept that 'someone was threatening to kill my pet cat and blackmailed me into doing it' as a reasonable excuse. Its just not acceptable. There is, and should always be, a difference.

#279:
"Vermelle, please stop stating your opinion as fact. You are just another person, you are not qualified to determine the IMPORTANCE of anything, let alone over anything else. I think we all understand your opinion, and thank you for sharing it, but that should be the end of it."

And you are? NOBODY is qualified to determine the importance of anything or anybody else. I'm not trying to. I'm simply telling others why I believe they're wrong in their opinion. The first amendment in the US, where I live, allows me to do this. If you don't like it, leave. Nobody is forcing you to stay.

Also, I was not stating my opinion as fact. I never said it was a fact. I was simply stating it, and telling others they could argue with me if they pleased. Its called a debate. I use facts to back up my opinion, but it is still an opinion. That humans should go to jail for murder is also an opinion, but it is a widely accepted opinion.

#282:
I definitely agree with you. Thanks for sharing.

#296:
"As far as animals licking their genitals, actually it does make them cleaner. Cats have a special salivia that acts as a deortorizer and cleaner. I'm not sure about other animals but I really doubt most animals do that anyway. I've never heard of an elephant doing that or a bird."
Actually, you wrong. A cat's saliva doesn't deodorize them at at all, nor does it clean them. It controls their body temperature. The licking action itself can be compared to brushing their fur with a bristle brush. If you ignore the saliva and the fact that a tongue is being used, its the same. Read here for more information and clarification: http://www.seefido.com/allergy/html/feline_grooming_and_saliva.htm

It surprises me that people get so offended. I'm actually enjoying this quite a bit. I find intelligent discussion over differing opinions to be entertaining, not offensive. You really should relax a bit. My best friend also disagrees with me, and we enjoy arguing over it. I'm not trying to offend you, and I respect your opinion. I'm not necessarily trying to change your views, as that would be a bit pointless, but I would like to understand why you think the way you do and tell you why I think the way I do. Maybe someone will change their mind based on what I've said, but probably not.

As for looking up articles and words to support my side, isn't that the point? I found facts that support my opinion, and I presented them. I'd expect you to do the same.

I'm not trying to sound 'smarter' by defining the words you used, I'm simply defining them so that we both understand what definition we're using. You've obviously never participated in a formal debate. Defining words is not meant to insult your intelligence, but to show the thinking process I used to come up with my conclusion using the definition of the words I've chosen. I wish you did have more time, because it would be interesting to see what you use to respond.

You're right, it is all about opinion. As I mentioned before, I don't believe anything I say is fact. A fact is something that can be proven without any room for disagreement. Science proves things as fact. Since none of my opinions can be proven without a doubt, as demonstrated by some of the people here disagreeing with me, then obviously they're not facts. I understand that. The way I write about my opinions seems to imply that I think they're facts, but you need to realize that is simply the way I write. I'm sorry if it annoys you, but I'm not 'acting like I don't believe it is'. I'm not a moron, so don't treat me that way. I KNOW its not fact.

In my opinion, you're being way too defensive. I'M debating. YOU'RE trying to insult me. Please don't.

Holy shit Vermelle. TL;DR.

#320 - On 07/27/2009 at 9:10pm by jnic

Animals don't need to be equal or lesser than humans, because they already have more rights than us. They are free to do whatever they want, we can't. They don't have all that government/higher authority crap. I don't see what this is all about.

#323 - On 07/27/2009 at 10:43pm by Doomsday

I can't speak for anyone but myself. To be honest, I'm just having fun with the debate. I'm odd like that. :]

#325 - On 07/28/2009 at 12:02am by sobe23

Your a creep. Who does that. Its kinda sick. Why didnt you just get another cat instead of stuffing the old one?..why didnt you just get it cremated like other weirdo pet owners and spread its ashes around in your backyard. You are probably one of those people who call their animals their children...

#326 - On 07/28/2009 at 12:27am by Traum

wow, basically everyone needs to calm done. Getting an animal stuffed is not a terrible thing to do, it's not 'inhumane'- the animal is dead.. if anything it shows how much the owner loved the animal, that they want it around for a much longer time and care to pay how much its costs to have an animal stuffed. "why didnt you just get a new cat?" yea thats a lot better, just replace the dead animal without thinking twice. do you people who say animals are equal to humans replace a dead relative the day after they die? ... nope. everyone on here is clearly just looking for confrontation and something to argue about.

#327 - On 07/28/2009 at 12:53am by michelle3889

YDI.
It's not because I think you're gross for stuffing your cat.
It's because you left a dead animal where your dog could reach it!

#328 - On 07/28/2009 at 10:54am by plasmid

YDI . Why couldn't you just bury it instead of keeping it around your house? It's like stuffing your granny and putting her on the couch because we should be reminded whenever we're in our home that a loved one just died. Creepy.

I never really understood the point of taxidermy... but this example is just extremely sad. Not the kind of sad, where you say "awwwww!" The kind of sad that makes you say "Ew! Get a fucking life!"

@145, Since when is killing dogs illegal in the U.S?
It's not, under controlled circumstances (oh hey, euthanasia and/or self defense).
There's really nothing wrong with Peta or stuffing your dead cat. It's all just personal views that you ought not to be disrespectful of. (And if you for some reason feel like being disrespectful makes you somehow superior, get your shit straight, first). Yayyyyy.

@305, I laughed for like twenty seconds. :D.

@OP, Sorry about your cattttttttttt ):
And that your dog tried to eat it...
