i really do wish people would just say "black" instead of "african american." i mean, when people start calling british black people "african americans," we've crossed the line.

That said, I agree, I find it stupid to have all those "careful" denominations, coloured, African American... calling them that doesn't change their skintone... it's not disrespectful it's just a physical appearance. When do we start calling blonds "light-haired people"?
