They didnt try to stop you? or at least stop their dog?
Your girlfriend has some stupid people in her family. Be careful if you ever make plans to marry her.
What the hell? It was obviously a sudden turn.
So you think that the family would be able to get in front of him to grab a running dog before he got to it...wow you're pretty stupid, hopefully no one plans on marrying you.

it's probably because you don't know the difference between "their" and "they're"
please correct me if i'm wrong but where would "they're" fit in this FML?
learn your own grammar before you criticize others
I agree. I'm trying to see where they're would replace their, and having no results.
HAHAHAHA! What an idiot!!
really? he used the wrong their?
because last time i checked it was THEIR dog not THEY ARE dog
The FML was probably edited after it was posted. It originally said "they're" and was changed to "their"
wtf he did use the proper "their". Dumbass grammar-nazi-wannabe
totally true... spell check fail.. it may be you who doesn't know the difference between they're and their.. LOL
they're means they are, moron.
"The whole family watched me run over their dog"
would it make sense if he had "The whole family watched me run over they are dog".
Learn english fool.

He spelled 'accidentally' wrong as well.

you fucking idiot think about you say before you want to sound like a god damn smart ass dumb shit. god people like you make me want to shoot everyone god damn. fucking retard.
He means it needs to be corrected because that guy ran over his girlfriend's entire family because THEY ARE DOG! To make matters worse they had to watch themselves get run over.
f your life for being a stupid dumbass.
to the OP, I'm sorry :( I hope they still like you, though.
in stead of complaining about: their or they're. ask yourself the real question:'what the hell was that dog doing on the road there?' or is it 'on the road their' or 'on the road they're'
PeanutSteak has officially made my day.
And as a bonus, made everyone else's comments slightly less funny. :b
Don't be a piece of shit. Relax moron!
who are you to be criticing? did you read what you wrote?
Hahahahahahahahahhahahahaha!! he did!
you are all stupid for argueing about something like this
N e one else noticing the large amount of "I went to meet my girlfriend's parents for the first time..." on here?
Not that they aren't funny. Little repetitive.
yeah, but there are lots of people who have a helluva time when meeting their significant other's parents.
kind of like there are so many ways to screw up sex. they're in the same "so easily able to FYL" category.
ohhhhh that sucks FYL......

Aww the poor dog! You should've been more careful but if it just ran out in front of you I guess there's nothing you could've done. If it was an accident then hopefully they won't be too mad.
Too many negative votes, comment buried. Show the comment.
You should be condemned to a life of celibacy for such a despicable act. Also, your girlfriend should bang a random dude in front of you as punishment.
That seems kind of harsh, especially if the dog *did* run out in front of the dude's car and the girlfriend's family didn't stop it. I know that when I have my dog outside and he's not on a leash I'm very conscious of his whereabouts. Without a leash, dogs are the owner's responsibility.
He was obviously joking.
That really sucks. Hopefully the rest of the event went well.
#240 im pretty sure the rest of the day couldnt get any better...it can only go down hill when u have to sit in the same room with the loving family of the dog u just killed
#248 - On 06/27/2009 at 7:21pm by sunshine4u375
omgsh totally like any day that starts out with running over a dog is bound to go downhill lol
did the dog at least live?
The situation sucked, as did my grammar explaining that. Imagine trying to introduce myself afterwards... Fortunately the dog seems like it will be ok...
Oh my god that sucks! Did you just like back away in your car and leave the area??
Aw that sucks! did you just like back away in your car hah
This comment has been moderated.
I clicked YDI only because you used the wrong form of their/there/they're.
wanna explain to me where he used it wrong??? 'Cause I don't see it...
#221 - On 06/27/2009 at 1:10pm by bnwranbo
Erm.. No they didn't, twat :).
he did, but he edited after everyone pointed it out.
they're..? stupid and a bad driver. clearly, you are a good catch.
haha omg man thats epic
#22 - On 05/05/2009 at 5:00pm by Whos
I can't help but think that a lot of it is their fault for not holding onto the dog.
That really sucks. Hope things are still okay
dammit #6 i wanted to be the grammar police! >:(
wow guys.. everyone is so tight on grammar.. idk if it really matters or not?
They deserve it for letting it run wild in the street.
Just push it to the curb and put the infamous "FREE DOG" sign up next to it.
Also, make sure to back over it, to put it out of it's misery.
wow your so mean for hitting a dog....open your eyes and look at the f***ing road.
#26 - On 05/05/2009 at 5:04pm by 22
Automatic YDI for failing at grammar.
#27 - On 05/05/2009 at 5:04pm by Yulia
At least you didn't run over a family member.
hahah you're right!
#276 - On 06/28/2009 at 9:35pm by aujiswhatweaim4
I definitely agree with #28. Then you probably would've gotten sued.
#26 It's not like he saw the dog and kept going dumbshit. He probably was nervous about meeting the parents and was trying to not hit anything else to stop to look for some little dog next to him
lmfao that is so funny. people need to calm the fuck down about grammer btw
I think you meant Grammar, btw. Here's a Blonde Moment for the day, folks.
While we're being pedantic, not every Noun needs Capitalization (this Website is not in German after all).
that sucks,
#34 - On 05/05/2009 at 5:11pm by burrito_supreme
That fucking sucks. When I was little I was on the bus coming home from school and our bus driver not only ran over some kids dog, but then backed over it. I would have died if I was directly involved in either situation.
This comment has been moderated.
whoa.. that sucks.. i'm wondering how tempted you were to keep driving lol
Well atleast you got free dinner ;) Hope her family likes dog
why are the people here always so unsympathetic? Who cares if he didn't spell they're/their right? God. give the man a break.
Anyway, it sounds like as long as the dog will be OK, you might not be too screwed. If anyone ever killed my dog I would set fire to their car.
omg. That is probably a sign that the relationships not going to go well. = ) If you plan on seeing her still.... i hope she doesn't have any more pets... ; )
OMMG THATS HORRIBLE:( YDI
For all of you who gave this guy a YDI for bad grammar, you all are idiots
umm to you guys making fun of his grammar. he did make use of the word "their" in the right context.
It originally said they're, and was edited afterwards in order to protect the OP's dignity... what was left of it :)
This comment has been moderated.
"Today, I was with my owners, watching their daughter's boyfriend drive up for the first time. I ran out to greet him, but he kept going past the house and turned around. Before I knew it, he hit me with the car. I'm okay, but damn did that hurt. FML"
hahaha! 45, you made my day... or night, rather.
Glad the dog's ok. Must have been pretty horrific for all parties involved (Especially the doggie).
#10 #20 #28... what form of their / there / they're are you suggesting he should have used? Where's the bad grammar?
Do you think he should have used "they're"? So his last sentence would read "The whole family watched me run over they are dog"?
If you're going to pretend to be grammar police, at least make sure you have a basic understanding of elementary grammar. Explain, if you can.
Originally, the post read they're. The OP later edited it.
#312 - On 08/30/2009 at 2:34pm by Horsegal
I'm pretty sure "their" is used correctly both times...?
man, you're in my favorites, this is really one of the funniest things i've read here, geez man did they even let you in the house ? it's the best friggin conversation starter ever i guess "hey did i just run over your dog darling?" :D
Anybody stop to think maybe it was one of those really little dogs that cant really be seen easily? Maybe he has a big truck or suv and it was a little yappy dog. Anyways what is the family doing not keeping it on a leash and letting it run around the streets? And give the guy a break he said the dog is fine. I feel bad for the OP having to explain something like that uppon first meeting of the family. That Sucks.
You idiots who are surprised he didn't see a small dog run behind his car have probably never driven.
Courts have let people off before in tragic accidents where a small child has gone behind a car and been backed over.
These people should have kept their dog out of the street. People need to know where their children and their pets are, people can't see through the solid parts of their car like superman.
#51 - On 05/05/2009 at 5:30pm by Emrysa
do they like..hate u now?
#52 - On 05/05/2009 at 5:30pm by eop123
LMAO shit..i feel bad for you
Holy shit! That's horrible! FYL for sure!!
f your life?
... f the dog's life!
#46 and #47 I think he corrected it.
I have to say, those of you that think 'their' is incorrect, are not all that bright. If you think it should be 'they're' you are trying to make the sentence 'I accidently drove past they are house the first time, but saw the whole family outside waiting to meet me' which is grammatically incorrect.
Spelling wise however, it's accidentally not accidently. (Sorry, I'm a bit of a spelling freak.)
OP, FYL. That sucks to have that as your first impression. Hopefully, your girlfriend's family will not hate you for it.
oh god,
that really sucks .
They should really keep their dog out of the street. That is entirely their fault. FYL.
#50 If he was driving a truck or SUV so large that it impaired his vision, it is still his fault. Get a car that isn't a nuisance to everyone around you.
Otherwise, if the dog was over 20 lbs, totally your fault. You shouldn't be making U turns without being particularly cautious as to what is around you. They aren't even legal in my state for this very reason.
It is both the OP and the dog owner's fault. But still mostly the OP's.
That really sucks but i'm assuming the dog did not make it but its possible you never said it died, but its a possibility just throwing it out there but either way it sucks bad
Ok, just so everyone knows, It originally said "I accidentally drove past they're house" So that is where the grammar police came in.
aww damn
fyl
#65 - On 05/05/2009 at 5:43pm by mikitiki123
#66 the OP commented on this post. The dog is fine.
That's good the dog is fine. But they should hold their dog back when a car is coming, and you should check your mirrors.
#26: If you run over something, don't back over it unless you're absolutely certain there's no hope. Because he could have just broken its leg for all we know.
To explain a bit more in detail, I pulled a U-Turn and the dog ran out of the yard and boom... It was a medium sized dog, I drive an SUV and didn't see it as I was making the turn. I didn't even know they had a dog... haha
The following 20 minutes were probably the most uncomfortable of my life, after I knew the dog was fine I kinda laughed nervously and left.
"Hi I'm the guy who is dating your daughter, sorry about the dog"... Live and you learn.
I say it isn't the OP's fault. Dogs aren't supposed to be in the middle of the street -_- If it was a pedestrian or bike rider, then maybe I'd be like "wtf," but dogs are low to the ground and stupid. I have a dog, and I know that I couldn't blame a driver if my dog ran into the middle of the street and got hit. I could only blame that on myself.
Poor dog!! Maybe it lived. You never know! :(
#71 - On 05/05/2009 at 5:55pm by Megliz
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
wait, it depends what kind of dog.
Siberian husky = NOOO
Pug or Chuhaua = YESS
what the hell #6 you are totally off. Their is possessive, in what way does THEY ARE make any sense.
Thank god the dog is gonna be fine!
I love how people read the comments but dont actually pay attention. The OP has posted two comments. Both saying the dog is fine. So in other words. I'm pretty sure that means that the dog is fine and going to live.
First off that sucks, I'm sorry!
second off...."they're" doesn't may any sense..."they're" means they are..."watched me run over they are dog?" that sounds so incorrect. Can someone please explain why "their" doesn't work?
Anyways, I hope the family still accepts you /=
This comment has been moderated.
holy shit! well at least the dog didnt die.
#19. what are you talking about? how is "their house" incorrect?
75- read the other fucking comments, this has been addressed like 5 times. THE POST WAS EDITED
oh it got corrected!!
sry #19.
but it's still not YDI!
yup im pretty sure that this actually happened... not.
Was this more convenient than just telling your g/f you didn't wanna date her anymore?
#84 - On 05/05/2009 at 6:12pm by Big_Kane
You are really stupid. You should have paid attention to driving instead of not and end up killing a dog. YDI
omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! u son of a bitch u killed a dog!!!!! dogs r my life!!!!
u deserved it
#86 - On 05/05/2009 at 6:16pm by Paul1
wow, that sucks
but great first impression though
every bf kills the family dog be4 meeting the family right? (heavy on sarcasm)
poor doggy
not your fault fucking dumb people
Fuck the poor dogs life, asshole. Did he live?
But .. if he's okay .. watch where you're driving!
WOW this is a universal fuck everyones life
fuck your life
fuck your girlfriends life (she probably wanted you to make a good impression)
fuck the dogs life
fuck her families life
but if the dog is a small one that you couldnt see than its all good when you make a sudden U turn your usually trying to concentrate on making the turn you dont have time to notice other things going on
and for the love of God you stupid animal lovers need to cool it he didnt mean to kill it and anyone should honestly needs to be able to see that its an honest mistake
you guys are friggin' ridiculous about the grammar. he obviously knows the difference he was just typing fast. we are on the internet.. WHO CARES??!!?!?!?!?
since the OP said (in a later comment) that the dog was ok, then its all good. but ya.. trying to introduce yourself after that.. talk about awkward.
I vote FYL
OMG that's horrible!!! but it is pretty freakin hylerious... that must have been crazy. I bet her fam's faces were priceless! Good luck, cause it sounds like your gonna need it! :-)
where did he use the wrong grammar?
#93 - On 05/05/2009 at 6:33pm by heather_xxo
Maybe it's just me, but why is the whole family OUTSIDE to meet you? I can understand if they're having some kind of party, but if it's specifically to meet you, then that seems a little awkward and weird to have them milling around on the yard.
In any case, they are responsible for the dog and not being able to keep it from running onto the street.
Both you and your girlfriend's family are equally wrong. You need to be more careful when you drive. What if the dog had been a kid? Your girlfriend and her family need to learn how to keep their pets off the road. Otherwise, it was just a dog, nothing lives forever.
I pray for your quick execution.
:(
and im pretty sure the asshole grammar police need to take a stick out of their asses and look up the holes, cuz his grammar is fine. if you are going to be an asshole, make sure you have a good reason for it.
# 5 and 21- the op used "their" correctly
they're = they are
and that wouldn't make any sense
so it looks like you are the ones who are mistaken
Damn thats fucked up. Wasn't your fault though
Fyl for running over a dog on you're first meet with ure gf parents
GODDAMNIT THE POST WAS EDITED. IT ORIGINALLY SAID THEY'RE AND NOW IT SAYS THEIR. YOURE ALL FUCKING RETARDED.
LMAO @ 103.. i was thinking the same damn thing
I'm glad he edited the post, so it makes the grammar police look like idiots, rightfully so. If you insist on attacking people over petty details, you deserve to look stupid.
As for the situation, sucks, but totally not your fault. The animal freaks in here need to chill out. They obviously haven't driven before, so don't take them too seriously, Rhyno. Sometimes, dumb animals put themselves in places you cannot see. I'm sorry people are blaming you for what you obviously had no intention of doing and really regret happening, but those people are ignorant morons, so don't feel too bad about it.
Hope the dog recovers well, and they are forgiving. But they really should keep their dog out of the street if they are outside watching it, and I'm sure they realized that.
Agreed with #103.
Also,OP already said that the dog's fine.Read the fucking comments.
#104 - On 05/05/2009 at 6:54pm by Omg666
wtf. all the ppl bitching about grammar.. he used their correctly.. their dog. as in the dog that belonged to them. duh
grammar police.
their is for ownership
they're is for "they are"
The OP used it correctly and most of you just got pwned for not being as smart as you think you are.
wait are you guys joking? i thought the first post was a joke but two seems too good to be true
It could have been worse...at least you didn't hit a kid. The situation sucks anyways.
Ok seriously people need to stop with these grammer comments. The post originally said They're. The OP fixed it. It now says their. It is nor correct was rong before. So please serioulsy stop with all this grammer crap. It was a sinple mistake and has been fixed.
#88; He didn't kill the dog.
lolololololololol 110, you crazy. i see why you want people to stop talking about grammer and spleling
at least he didn't kill the dog? :/
#110... rong... sniple? lol who the hell are u to talk about grammer
lols, yeah, #110 fails. :P
but poor doggy ;[
F everyones' including the little doggy's life ;o;
i'm glad #46 saw it too. where's the "their" that was used incorrectly?
anyway, i don't see how they could've possibly deserved it. that's awful:(
oh man i bet thet made meeting them even more awkward...
poor puppy, but at least the dog will be okay! if you killed it, that would have truly been an FML.
Ok yes I did spell a couple words wrong. It's from typing fast and not checking. I do deeply apologize. I was on the phone with a very bitchy customer and I was venting my anger by banging the keys. LOL. My bad please forgive me. Jesus chill the fuck out people.
@ 5 - what are you talking about?
Oh and 114 my grammer was fine. It was the spelling that was incorrect ;) Dumbass
hahaha, you still can't spell grammar right even when you're not in a rush ;) i do believe that you, sir, are the dumbass
Oooooooh shit thats awful :( Pay for it? That's just awful. FYL.
Actually 122 I prefer to be called miss not sir. And yeah I may spell simple words like grammar wrong but I at the very least know how to capatilize letters at the appropriate time and use the correct punctuation :)
And 123 We've gone over this a few times. The OP was originally wrong and has long since changed his grammar.
Ok, I want to make this clear:
THE POST USED TO SAY THEY'RE!
THE OP SAID THE DOG IS FINE!
OP EDITED!
DOG FINE!
I bet this gets ignored >.>
I like #125
Took the words out of my mouth.
#126 - On 05/05/2009 at 7:37pm by simplethings7
right, yeah, if you haven't noticed, many twenty-somethings take a more postmodern detached approach to typing on the internets, LADY.
OUCHH!
I'm assuming that didn't go about too well.....
Ahh well... next time, get a girlfriend who doesn't have pets :)
Wow!!!!
Omygod i agree with #129!!!!
Ya...I seriously doubt this actually happened. So much stuff on this site comes from creative minds. This is one of them.
#46, 47, 60: THANK YOU!!!!!
The OP used "their" correctly.
As for everyone who tried telling the OP he used the wrong form of their/there/they're, open a freaking book before you correct someone else's grammar. Don't be stupid.
OP: I'm sorry. That really sucks.
you think your life sucks, how about the dog you ran over
did they even seem upset or did they still like you? did you still get the girl?
#137 - On 05/05/2009 at 8:34pm by tjbishop
Not a YDI because they shouldn't have been letting their dog run in the street. Idiots learned a painful lesson.
#20 you're an idiot. They used the correct form. "their house" is correct. "they're house" makes no sense. they are? "there house" doesn't either. THERE! HOUSE! wtf no. THEIR is correct. you're stupid.
as to the OP, this really really sucks, hope they dont hate you now :(
whoever put YDI for grammar.... U R A NERD!!!!!!!! plus he used the word correctly smart ass!! thats elementary shit learn it fags
And that is why responsible pet owners don't let their animals roam the streets regardless of whether or not they're outside with them. Dogs should NEVER be allowed in the street alone, even if the owner is 10 feet away in the yard. Lesson learned on their part.
#143 - On 05/05/2009 at 8:55pm by sarsar
Ahh, that is the best FML ever. They should have kept their dog off the road, though.
#144 - On 05/05/2009 at 8:56pm by Jamesfranz
Did you get out and be like, "I know whats for dinner!"
That's the most brilliant thing I've read yet.
Oh my God! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Dude! That's just fucked up! FYL, for real.
#147 - On 05/05/2009 at 9:06pm by Renan
This is why you don't let your dog run in the street, especially if you're expecting someone! I'm so sorry that happened to you.
Thank you to all the people that corrected all the assholes who think they know grammar. Their shows possession of something and since it's their house the OP's right
My mouth literally gaped open after I read that. Brutal.
Horrible first impression :|
Ooooh.. ouch.
They didn't at least try to stop the dog or keep it inside? geez.
These grammar police are corrupt! No mistake in the OP. HAHAHAHA - dumbasses
The ignorance in this thread is ridiculous.
1. The OP already said that the dog was going to be OK.
2. He also said that he didn't see the dog or know that they had one.
3. He edited the FML to use the proper they're/their.
Holy fuck, I looked at the comments here when there were only 20 and there are still idiots argueing about grammer.
A good cardinal rule of driving is to look in the direction the car is moving... but seriously that does suck
wow man, that blows, but really, are you that oblivious to your surroundings
you deserve it man, if your that oblivious to your surroundings, then how are you expected to keep that girl around?
Wow. That really sucks. It's a good thing the dog is okay though. Why didn't they have better control over their dog...I'm sorry but if they're letting the dog run out into the street it's just kind of an accident waiting to happen. Granted you should pay more attention but things happen. Imagine trying to introduce yourself. "Hey. Nice to meet you. I just ran over your dog." That's not really an FML on you though (minus the whole impression thing)....more FML on your girl's family for letting the dog run in the street in the first place.
wait a min....so your saying... their was jsut STANDING there and the dog jsut HAPPEN to go on the street with the family KNOWING that there was a CAR on the street......we're talking about retardation o_O
......what happened next?
#165 - On 05/06/2009 at 2:07am by jellycamera
Another reason why stupid people shouldn't have pets. No way in hell would I let my dog run out on the road.
#160, who said the dog was visible when looking in the direction the car is moving? It very well could have run under the rear tires, or even the front tire coming from the side.
Some of you people have no imagination for the situation. You think whenever somebody hits a dog, the dog was obviously standing still in the middle of the road and quite visible for 50 yards, and the person wasn't looking and just ran over the dog in plain sight.
Seriously. That's not how most pet accidents occur.
Dogs are retarded. They run under tires.
FYL. the family should have kept the dog on leash.
#168 - On 05/06/2009 at 2:40am by J90
To everyone who commented on bad grammar...
"their" is perfectly correct... it's possessive...
fail.
#169 - On 05/06/2009 at 3:23am by Phikun
that is so awful. but i agree with 171.. the dog shouldnt just be allowed in the road. that really sucks tho.
dude....the grammar is good. he used "their" correctly.
man...poor dog...
GAWD DAMMIT!
IT SAID 'THEY'RE' BEFORE THE OP EDITED TO 'THEIR'.
#172,#156,#151,#143,#142,#133 etc.
FAILLLLLLLL!
(/capsrape)
#172 - On 05/06/2009 at 7:42am by Omg666
LOL. OH MAN. That... wow. That sucks.
Now that's an icebreaker. I'm sure that was not a very fun date.
#175 - On 05/06/2009 at 8:59am by capsfan1102
#5, "their" and "They're"??? man, wtf are you saying? "their "is possesion, "they're" is an abbreviation of "they are".... he's totally ok. It's not "they are house" or "they are dog"! duhhhhhhh
yeah #106!!
oh, yeah, and.... THUD! lmao!!!!!!
They were all standing out front waiting for you? Gee, that's, um..... special. RUN AWAY.
their is the correct way to say it #5...they're is saying they are. ugh dumbasses piss me off when they try and correct somebody when they themselves are right
ok ok... so OP apparently had written "they're" before they changed it to "their"
let's just get over the grammar.
#179 - On 05/06/2009 at 11:33am by Phikun
Her family is stupid for letting their dog run around in the street. There are leash laws and fences for reasons people!
#180 - On 05/06/2009 at 11:58am by 100308
hahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahah
#94 wins this comment thread for making up the word "hylerious"
don't know who i feel more sorry for, the dog, you or the family.
This is when you run like fuck or drive....but dont kill their cat
All u idiots like #5 commenting about there are stupid. It is supposed to be THEIR. They're would mean they are dog which doesn't make sense. Dumbasses
#181
The OP corrected the original post. So to put it your way... "ugh dumbasses piss me off when they try and correct somebody when they themselves are right"
Read the damn comments!!
#186 - On 05/06/2009 at 2:42pm by simplethings7
TG for #185...
They're is used for sentences that require "They are"
"The whole family just watched me run over THEY ARE dog?"
Seriously you guys are really dumb. Think before you critique.
--And for the post---
I'm so sorry for you that is sooo unfortunate!
...They should have called the dog back, or had it on a damn leash!
Not exactly your fault.
Number 19- You're an idiot.
And as are the rest of you that poke at simple spelling mistakes.
#6, there were no mistakes. You need to learn English; it's my THIRD language and I already speak better than you.
What a way to meet the parents :/

It's absolutely incredible how many people read the comments that say the grammar was incorrect, but didn't read the dozens of other comments that say that the original post did indeed say "they're" and was later edited for correctness.
And none of you idiots will read this post either, you'll just keep telling #6 how wrong they are, when #6 was never wrong to begin with.
It's so moronic, but every time I read somebody telling #6 that he is wrong, I laugh. Stupidity is hilarious.

READ THIS POST BEFORE YOU COMMENT ON GRAMMAR.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. First comment that I see that says that. I've been laughing/rolling my eyes at the complete absurdity of all of these comments for the last 10 minutes, and finally I see someone other than myself who actually gets it. THANK YOU.
FUCk you!!!! your a dumbsass i hate you a poor dog :[ what does YDI mean???
um. his use of "their" is correct.
and that's TERRIBLE :(
Oh, man that sucks. Umm, I doubt he TRIED to run over his girlfriend's dog. The dog probably ran out into the street. Btw, if you idiots are going to try to be grammar police, then you should make sure you're actually right before you accuse someone. He used "their" the right way, or else it would say, "I accidently drove past they are house the first time..."
Hey look, the two posts before me are also idiots. I will keep making this known.
that'll teach 'em to let their dog run around loose - good for you!
D:
why the hell would you U-turn in the middle of a street?! pull in a freaking driveway!

#19, he used the right form of there/their/they're.
He wants to say the dog belonged to them, and "their" is possessive. He was right. He said "their dog"
I agree, your life is f**cked.
"They're" means they are. "Their" is possessive. He's right you idiots.
aw... i'm sorry. that sucks...is the dog okay at least?

All of you saying "the grammar police are idiots" need to read the freaking comments. Then tell me who the idiot is.
I am with Seegtease on this.

Worst. Entrance. Ever.
It must have been a really awkward meeting.
did the dog die and did she break up with you
This comment has been moderated.
This is why I leave my dog inside when I know someone will be pulling up. I hate to say it but this is why he should have been on a leash.
OH MY GOD!!! didn't you see the dog? did it die?

The dumbasses who let their dog out without a leash to wave with dorky smiles deserve to see a truck bash the family pet's skull in...
It's called laws, and they're meant to be followed. I hope that 1) You didn't get a ticket 2) They get a ticket for having their dog outside running around without a leash and 3) You'll be careful about that girl's family should you decide to marry her.
I've been down the road of stupid families, it is not a fun one
Its called Private Property. Who says they weren't on a private drive type thing?
The illustration is average..
The girl could have acted a lot more shocked. She looks like she doesn't even care that her dog just got hit by a car.
and they could have made it more obvious that they ran over a dog. I mean "sparkie" is okay but, a visual would add to it by a lot
i hope you mean before the dog got run over. a visual of a bleeding, mangled dog? ...actually, im okay w that, but other ppl wouldnt be
ok everyone, he did not use the wrong word. they're is used when someone says they are _____, for example, they're tall. Their is used when someone is talking about something that belongs to someone, for example, their house is white. he used the correct word.
Finally, a half-decent illustration.

Great illustration xD
I'm with syn on this one too
Thank you, #203.
To all of you who think that somehow "they're" fit into this particular FML, please go back to Grade 1 English class, learn basic grammar, then come back and contribute to the discussion.

Heres the dogs FML "Today, I was so excited to meet her again i ate some realy weird food and took a shat on the cloths and then i heard that car as i saw her and the car went pewing past me i ran to stop then as the super dog that i am and as they made a Uturn i went HOLY JEBU...and i..heard her say Sparkie are you ok and i flew up to heaven where very weirdly looks just like a strip club with the same crappy food. FML
what's really irritating is that people make their comments without reading the comments fully... I read the FML and then read the comments stating that the OP used the word "they're" incorrectly, and should have used their. If you continue reading you get more comments along the line of "You guys are fucking retarded, he used their correctly both times". I think that both parties involved are too cocky for their own good, because its not too hard to figure out that the OP originally used wrong grammar and said "they're" and after being bashed for it, changed it to the correct "their". Learn the facts before you bash, people. Thanks.
AMEN!!! Thank you #242!!!!!

at least they were wearing their seatbelts.
oh geesh that sucks. I hope they understood or forgave you. very good illustration btw.
haha I like the illustration!! I would have changed the levels and contrast a bit on Photoshop to make it darker though lol...then you wouldn't see the marker lines and it would look crisp or like it was done on a tablet :P.
Hahaha love the illustration - the last panel is great :D
OMG...he did not spell something right...FYL to everyone who is commenting about it!!!! Grow up
Illustration is total awesome, one of my favorites so far...
Alright, no where in his illustration or story does he say "they're." You all are fucking idiots for fighting over comments. Wtf is this, Myspace?
Illustration's very cute. I like it. Much better than some of the other ones. Han, that's an awesome graphic, congratulations. :)
PS. Stop arguing, people. Please, go to the park or get a job or whatnot. This is a waste of Cyberspace. Not to mention time you will never get back.
PPS. "Speak your mind, but please try and be respectful." To all those who curse on these forums and jump at each other's throats...do you not notice this line?
Ooh, nice. I hope they didn't hold it against you.
Aw, I'm glad the dog's okay! What a sad situation for you, your girlfriend, and especially the dog! :(
Though I'm guessing your u-turn was illegal anyway, I really think this is mostly the owners' problem. Running into the street to "greet" cars is cute when seen from the dog's mind, but if the owners live in a place where there are cars around, it's their responsibility to make sure their dog is either contained or is trained to avoid cars. It's pretty much neglect otherwise...
I hope everything's turned out all right though. :)
That is horrible. Good job looking where your driving. but the family should've held the dog back. If you ran over my dog and it died...I would of made your life horrible.
It's called a LEASH, I think the girlfriend's family needs to take an investment in one..... retards.
Can't vote O_o but that really sucks.
Ohhhhh FUCK!!!!! poor dog!!!
Dear god bro, I'm soo sorry I feel for you.
fyl.
but I don't understand why you would pull a u-turn. If you were in a residential area.. as I assume you were because they were waiting outside, there would be another driveway in a couple hundred feet (at max) that you could turn around in and play "I didn't know which driveway was yours" or some other crap. If you were in an SUV, they have a giant turn radius, so yeah, I'm highly doubting the U-turn scenario. If it is true, fyl. If it isn't, congrats on making me think about this for this long, lol.
wow... yu got be suchh a smart ass ??
They're the ones dumb enough to let their dog run around loose.
that actually works where i live, in the country. no one ever comes down the drive, so the dogs r always safe. but in the city and suburbs, you may just find pieces of loose dog lying around.
lol. all these comments are hilarious. their more interesting than the fml itself. LOL!

ohh thats gonna leve a mark
Did you kill it??
#302 - On 07/14/2009 at 11:08pm by sarahwashere
thats so sad! (wait did you kill it..?) i feel really bad for you. that is just a plain bad situation.
yu fucking retard did yu kill it? shouldnt you be watching the road moron ! stupid dumbshit !
Hehe. I don't think that's a bad illustration at all! It would have been a tad funnier if in the final box, he either wouldn't have said anything or said "Whoops" or something similar. :D
poor doggie!!! Dipshit watch the road next time!!!!
you sir, are a fucking retard. did you get your license from a cracker jack box?
As i said other supposed FMLs Nothing really happened to YOU!!! poor doggy
bad bad bad first impression!! poor dog :(
You people are all fucktards. It's the family's fault for letting their damn dog run in the street! And technically, if the dog caused damage to the car, they are responsible for the cost as it was their dog that caused it!

BAHAHAHHAHAAHAHHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAAHAHHA FYL
"My sister had wanted us to meet her boyfriend for a while, so today we were gonna meet him, the whole family was waiting out in the driveway(including our dog) when he misses our house, suddenly our dog tries to chase the car, and my sisters stupid boyfirend makes a really fast U turn and runs him over!!! FML"

The next day:
"Hey I heard you broke up with your girl friend, what happened?"
"Lets just say the weiner (is that correct?) isn't as long as it was before."
"Awww, Ran over her dog?"
