My guess is that they actually arent actually that upset about it, and just thought it would be a funny FML. Im not the OP so I cant confirm that, but it seems likely to me.

Don't make this about gender stereotypes. I think his comment was "My young child listens to good music despite being younger and less versed in the ways of the world and my oldest child, despite having more worldly experience and age, listens to what amounts to diarrhea with an stupid haircut."

um, 70, 2's comment refers to stereotypes in general, saying nothing specifically of gender. Your examples refer to stereotypes as well, though focused more on age. You may very well agree.

It's not tasteless because it was light humour about a man who died 22 yrs ago, but rather making light of suicide. That is a subject that shouldn't be joked about. It has nothing to do with my being soft.
