I'm 21 and I wouldn't introduce my mother to my boyfriend as of yet no matter how we were together and I was 18 when this was written and my feelings are the same

Don't think she met to insult you. When you greeted each other so casually, she was left to wonder if she was missing something. Sounds like that was her of asking if you were going to pursue him (with some humor) since you'd already made it clear you liked him.
