Today, there was a fire alarm in my dorm. Just as I was leaving my room, a lady in the hallway told me that it was a drill and they'd be inspecting rooms, so I would need to leave my door unlocked. When I came back, my room was trashed and my laptop, speakers, and jewelry were gone. FML

Today, I accidentally bumped into the fire alarm which set off a high pitch buzzing noise that could be heard throughout the entire dorm. It went on for at least two hours and none of the technicians could figure out how to turn it off. All the girls on my floor want to kill me. FML

Today, we had a fire drill in my dorm, and I live on the 7th floor of my building. They shut the elevators down and I had to walk down 14 flights of steps. I shattered my kneecap last week. They turned the alarm off when I got to the first floor. FML

Today, I locked myself out of my dorm room. I walked across campus, shoe-less and in nothing but my bathrobe, to find someone who could let me back in. Turns out I hadn't even shut the door properly and so it never actually locked. I can still hear the guy laughing at me. FML

Today, I lost my keys. My roommate locked me out, then yelled at me when I made her come home to let me in. I tore my room apart searching for them, and even went out to search my locker room. When I got home, I glanced at my wall only to find my keys hanging on the hook I set up specifically for them. FML

Today, my dorm's fire alarm went off. In the rush to escape, I slipped and fell off my bunk bed, breaking my ankle in two places. Crying, I told my roommates I needed help to walk. They shrugged and left after mentioning that I would slow them down. FML

Today, I arrived at my apartment to find the door kicked in. Inside, I found my TV, Xbox, stereo, CDs, and laptop had all been stolen. When my roommate got home, I told him about it, to which he replied, "Yeah, I left my keys inside this morning, so I kicked the door in to get them." He left with the door kicked in. FML

this is like a FYL and YDI. FYL Cause your stuff was stolen and YDI for actually believing that someone inspects rooms during drills and they asked you to leave your door unlocked when you should know that inspectors have their own keys to go in your dorm.

Actually, they really were doing room inspections, to make sure everyone had left/there were no fire hazards/whatever. The lady was wearing a facilities uniform. Maybe she was trying to make things easier on herself? IDK I have a sneaking suspicion that it *was* our RA who stole my stuff. He's a total douche.

I'd recommend locking your door every time you leave the room. Anyone authorized to inspect your room will have access to a key.

at my university they tell us to lock our doors when we leave for that very reason. You were told wrong, and FYL for having your shit stolen. Though in the future, I'd say let your RA/RD tell you what to do instead of some random lady. (unless the lady you're referring to was in the RA)

#44-I'm pretty sure you could find more girls on campus that did bring jewelry than didn't. That doesn't mean it's expensive jewelry, but you still wouldn't want it stolen. OP: That sucks, FYL.
