Today, I went back to my high school for an event with some of my friends, both of which are in relationships. Whilst there we saw our favorite teacher, who hugged us and said, "I heard you have a boyfriend! And so do you!" And then she turned to me and said, "And... And you're doing great things!" FML

This reminds me of a book I've read recently called The Girl With All The Gifts (which is an amazing book if you like post-apocalyptic) The little girl totally loved her teacher and it was adorable :) You deserve it in a good way, OP. Your student looks up to you.

Teachers often have pretty big impacts on a student's life. They each help mold students into who they later become. Especially if you were the kind of student I was and spent more time in school than at home (lots of extracurriculars).

By year 1, I'm assuming that's like first grade. If so, that's absolutely adorable. If year 1 is referring to a freshman, then I'd have a long talk with that student if I were you before it gets out of hand.
