Today, my mum called and told me she had bought me a new, white dish washer for my apartment because it doesn't have one. I was SO excited and told her I'd pay her back as soon as I could. I only had to pay her $1.25. She bought me a sponge. FML

Today, I did the dishes to make my parents happy, even though it's my brother's chore. My mom's fancy new Yeti cup was among the dirty dishes, which also has a Bluetooth speaker on the bottom. I didn't know this, and now the Bluetooth speaker is now ruined, mom and dad are furious, and I apparently have to buy a new one. FML

What a bitch thing to do, but clever.

Why is it that parents think it's so damn funny to trick their kids into thinking they bought them a large gift when they actually bought them something small? Doesn't sound like anything but a good way to get your kid to resent the hell out of you, if you ask me. And no, I'm not saying kids ought to expect any large gifts from their parents, but I still think it's entirely unnecessary to trick your child into thinking they're getting something they're not.

Haha your mum sounds hilarious...def. a clever way to teach a lesson

Do people not read? Nowhere did it say the mother asked to be paid back. The OP told her she would. I think it was pretty funny.

Tell her you bought a car for her birthday, then proceed to give her a cute little Hotwheels toy car.

LMAO, your mom is just stupid to send you a sponge, but its jokes LOL

Why do you call her "mum" when you're from Massachusetts?
