How is it not at least a little OP's fault? If they are adults living on their own, its their house their rules. That means they have the power to say 'no.' Dont get me wrong, i can imagine a million situations where they would be compelled to let the in laws move in, but the bottom line is they said yes, which means they brought it on themselves.
