When you're over 50, you forget little things. I can't count the times I forget my sons names & they live here! One's a senior in H.S., one's older, it's not like I see them every now & then ,I see them everyday. Shit happens!!! They cared enough to take you out. My boys don't even get cards from their sorry grandparents! I always get my grandchildren something, they live far away so, it's usually a gift card.

Operative words in this FML: "Grandparents" and "forgotten." OP, they're elderly. Elderly people forget things all the time. It's not that big of a deal. Also, at least they cared enough to celebrate with you. Be grateful. These days a lot of people don't care about their own families or have no time for them.

At least they took you out. I didn't get anything this year.

You can't really blame them... they may not have remembered your name, but at least they remembered what day you were born so it was something especially significant to them. I would just shrug it off OP and enjoy your dinner and the time with them. xo
