Today, my flatmate asked me to wash the large pile of dishes on the bench, and if I would start on cleaning the house which was a total mess. This would have been fine if I hadn't just walked in after being away for a week. FML

Today, while my parents were grocery shopping, I cleaned the kitchen, swept floors, did laundry, and cleaned bathrooms, only to finish right before they got home. After dinner, my dad bitched and complained that I didn't take out the trash and he had no room to throw away his paper plate. FML

Today, I hired a cleaner to clean my apartment so when my in-laws visited tonight, they wouldn't think I was lazy. I got home from work, the cleaner hadn't shown at all, and my in-laws had arrived early. My mother-in-law is now mopping the floors. FML

Today, my flatmate was once again passive aggressive and angry at me, despite being sweet and pleasant to everyone else. My crime? Putting a baking tray in the dishwasher without scrubbing it first. FML

Today, I washed all the dishes that had been piling in the sink over the week, and set them in the drying rack before I left for school. I came home to see that my dad’s girlfriend had put them back into the sink, along with her dirty dishes. She told me to re-wash them. Why? “They didn’t smell clean.” FML

Today, after I had the place to myself for a while and it was easy to clean, my roommate returned and I woke up to trash piling up, dishes everywhere, and luggage full of sweaty laundry. Oh, and it smells like poo again, because he doesn't regularly shower. I want to scream. FML

Were the dishes all yours? YDI if they had been in the sink for a week. It was rude of him/her to bring up chores that way--as most likely the mess is not all yours and you had just arrived. The op didn't deserve it unless all of the mess was his/hers.

Anyway, sounds like you should move out and find someone that's a decent enough human to clean after themselves. Unless of course, you left the dishes there for a week.

YDI for being a doormat. You are under NO obligation to clean up your flatmate's mess. You have a right to refuse. If they don't like it, you can either kick them out and find a new flatmate, or find a new place and flatmate and leave this one to live with their mess

I know, its gross and nasty, but next time, don't do them. Just don't. If he doesn't like it, too bad. You're not there to take care of him and his dishes.
