Today, my cousin and I were out on the boardwalk. I walked to the railing next to a man and said, "Great view isn't it?" Then I found out that the man was blind and had a seeing eye dog. FML

Today, I tossed half a sausage to a dog sitting beside a park bench. It wasn't until he lunged for it and dragged the man beside him off of the bench that I realized it was a seeing eye dog. FML

Today, as a condominium security guard, I had to enter an old lady's apartment to supervise the mandatory maintenance taking place inside. I commented on the lakeside view from her window and mentioned, "This is a pretty nice view up here isn't it?" It turns out that she's blind. FML

Today, I went to console my cousin because I'd heard that her dog had passed away. As I opened the door, the first thing I saw was her extremely old and feeble (but still very much alive) dog. Turns out my friend was talking about HIS cousin, and I simply misheard. Trying to explain that to her was mighty awkward. FML

Hey, maybe he was deaf too. Or... maybe it was just some guy walking his dog while wearing sunglasses and you just assumed he was blind. Don't worry about it... he doesn't know where you live or even what you look like.

It's douche, not doosh. At least you spelled it phonetically. Better than the time I saw someone spell it dush. Also, happened. That one is just sad. I've seen people use an apostrophe improperly when pluralizing a word, but not when turning one past tense. However, your message is good. It could happen to anyone under the right circumstances, and it's not THAT big of a deal as long OP explains he/she didn't realize. Laugh it of OP! Just not in front of the blind man, or he'll think you said it to be an ass...

seems like people are stupid. i could have made the same mistake. no one thinks hey he might be blind so I'll make sure. if he has a dog my first thought is he has a dog. and if she was looking out to the water she was not looking at the guy. so people relax.

It's not much of an FML. Sure, you feel awkward, but trust me, they don't mind. My girlfriend's nearly totally blind and she's fine with it. I call FYL because you must've felt really awkward. But it's still an easy mistake to make :)
