Today, my boyfriend and I welcomed our first son into the world. After I gave birth, he said he was going home to make sure the house was ready for baby. A few hours later, he was tagged in a Facebook photo by a mutual friend at the local bar. FML

Today, I gave birth to my first born child. Somehow, my mom and mother in law made their way to the delivery room, and walked in mid-push. While they were escorted out, I overheard my mother in law asking the nurse how her son, my husband, was holding up. FML

Today, I gave birth, but my husband was late and got here just in time to cut the cord. He was hung over after celebrating his impending fatherhood all night. He missed the cord twice, cut it, then fell over, and wound up in the bed next to mine, with a hydrating IV and a bashed head where he hit it on the baby's cot. FML

Today, I gave birth to our first child at home. What was supposed to be a beautiful moment of us peacefully greeting our newborn, ended up with the cops knocking on our door. Apparently me giving birth sounds like a domestic dispute. FML

Today, after a short trip out of town, I came back late at night to the yard clean, the house swept and mopped, all the laundry done, and my son asleep. I was thrilled with my boyfriend, until I found him passed out, covered in spilled beer and piss. FML

Today, I was rushed to the hospital to deliver my child. On the way, I called my husband who was in a bar with his friends. Drunk, he just yelled, "BROS BEFORE HOS!!" and hung up. FML

Today, I gave birth to my first son. He was 11 pounds and the labour lasted 22 hours. My husband was absent for 8 of those hours because he slipped when my water broke, cracked his head, and ended up in the ER next door. FML

Today, I found out that I was pregnant and sent a picture of the positive test to my boyfriend. Before I got a text back from him, I got his newly updated Facebook status that read "This has got to be the most depressing day of my life." FML

There's an assortment of reasons this could be. But looking at a different angle, maybe he's terrified. Bringing a child into the world can be a very daunting thing and maybe he needed a brief moment to collect himself before undergoing being a fulltime dad.

Odd, but my gut thinks there is more to this. Maybe he wants one more hurrah, before baby duty 24/7 for the next 18 years? Or he could just be another douche.

If I was you I would get over it. Either he's terrified of having a baby in the house, or he was having a celebratory drink with his buddies because he could, and will be able to for a while. I would not read too much into it until you actually talk to him.

A bit surprised by the responses here. Figured most people would be ripping the guy a new one. I get being nervous and all, but you can't tell your significant other you are going home to get things ready for baby then go out drinking. Especially when she is in the hospital with your child.

I would make sure he is doing what he needs to be doing in the first place and then bust his ass by confronting him straight on no bullshit, that is uncalled for any guy to lie.
