Today, my 4-year-old son is distraught. This morning we saw a man, dressed as Santa, passed out drunk on a public bench. My son is now convinced that it was his corpse, and that Santa Claus is dead. FML

Did you try explaining that Santa is just really tired from preparing all the presents?

It's a lot of pressure being Santa... Delivering billions of presents all in one night... Hell, I'd be an alcoholic, too! No wonder he eats so many cookies, he has to soak up all the alcohol! But in all seriousness, I hope your child isn't scarred for the rest of their childhood, OP.

Holy hell there are a lot of people on here that are bitter about believing in Santa Claus when they were a kid. If they didn't tell their kids about Santa, the next FML would be "Today my child was sent home for starting a fight over how Santa doesn't exist," and you all would be bitching about that person not telling their kid about Santa and ruining it for other kids. Or they'd get harassed for robbing their child of their childhood.

not to mention how it could effect the child but it's also good to let children enjoy child hood

This is why you need to teach your kids early on that we celebrate the memory of the real person, St. Nicholas, but that "Santa Claus" is just a fun legend.

just tell him Santa never existed he was created by coca cola to sell soda

you may want to try telling him that some times when people get stressed and over worked they get really tired and need to rest. then some times when they rest they fall asleep

you betrayed his trust by instigating and further perpetuating the Santa lie. at least now he can move on

now you don't have to sneak to put presents out

I never believed in Santa Claus, and my parents made sure of that when I was that age, so, maybe just tell the truth about Santa?

Better for him to learn the truth sooner than later.
