Today, I went to start my just bought '79 VW bus. I put my key in but stopped due to the strong gasoline smell. I went to check. Found puddle of gas. The previous owner figured duct taping a cracked tank was the same as fixing it. And didn't bother to share that tidbit with me. FML

you ever inspect something before you buy it jackass

You serious? You didn't look under the 30 YEARS OLD car before buying it?

YDI for letting your eagerness to buy an old piece of shit overrule your common sense.

YDI because duct tape is infallable.

you are a moron for not checking before buying something that old!

that's why you check a van before you bye one YDI

That'll be the first of many problems with that van... if you want to buy a van that age, then get used to problems.

anyone who says he should have used carfax is an idiot. carfax only shows reported incidents. it wouldn't show a cracked gas tank. and when you buy a car from another person, its a good idea to look under the car for anything obvious. now where the leak was may have not been in a conspicuous spot. but good catch on your part, glad you didn't blow up :p
