Today, I watched my mother tell a man that the holocaust was "a good thing" and "necessary for population control". That man was my girlfriend's father. Who is Jewish. FML

Today, my girlfriend and I were being driven home from our date by her mother. She's Jewish and I'm Catholic. Her mother was talking about how my girlfriend was going on a trip to Jerusalem that summer. She finished with "And you can find a nice Jewish boy while you're there." FML

Today, my daughter is so out of touch with anything not related to her phone and her social popularity that she doesn't know who Hitler was. I had to show her on YouTube, and while we aren't religious anymore, we are a Jewish family so this is an extra level of parental shame for me. FML

Today, I watched The Passion of the Christ with my girlfriend. She kept scoffing at what she called the "historical inaccuracies", and actually tried to convince me that Hitler killed Jesus. When I corrected her, she looked at me, mouth agape, as if I was insane. FML

What is your solution then? You can't temper people into population control, most countries wouldn't follow suit. Brazil, India, and much of Africa is unfettered in that regard. Even the Chinese tried. That "1-child act" was good on paper, until it turned out most parents were choosing boys. Now China gets to have a male to female ratio crisis in the next decade. Unless people lose their empathy, fall into a global war, or are willing to live under strict lifestyle rules, population control will never occur.

I'm sorry OP, but your mother sounds like an idiotic bitch. There, I said it. It is extremely insensitive to say something like that, plus it shows you know nothing about history or human rights. I say if we must cut back on the population, let's start with people like her.
