Today, I was talking with my mother and expressed my slight disappointment at how many of my friends are getting into relationships, whereas I'm still single. My mother decided to encourage me by saying "Don't worry, sweetie. There are boys out there who don't go for looks. You'll be fine". FML

Today, after coming home from hanging out with a few friends, my mom told me that I shouldn't hang out with them any more. Why? Because "they are way hotter than I am and I'll never get a boyfriend if I'm always the ugly one in my group." FML

Today, my mom asked me out of the blue if I was ever going to consider getting married. It wasn't until after the conversation ended that I remembered my siblings are all either single like I am, or incapable of having children. I am my mother's last hope of becoming a grandma, and she reminds me all the time. FML

well at least she was trying to be nice. I know mothers who have told their daughters that they wont get a guy unless she pays them first, which is horrible and untrue. She probably was thinking something else and it just came out wrong...

hmm well there is usually always something you can do to make yourself look better.. a little makeup.. eyebrow pluckage.. hair cut.. clothes to go with your body better.. etc. thats if you care to do anything if not then screw her

I don't think that's true. I've known quite a few couples that formed in high school (including my brother and his girlfriend) that started in high school and are still going strong in college. I know my brother and his girlfriend have been discussing marriage. Even if the couples don't stay together, high school is a great place to start discovering what kind of people you want to be with later.
