Today, I was taking a warm shower when someone in my house flushed the toilet, making the shower extremely hot. In my rush to get out so I wouldn't get burned, I slipped and knocked a tooth out. FML

Why wouldn't you just move out of the spray instead of trying to run out of the shower?

is it that hard to turn the water off? anyways fyl

What is WITH everyone's plumbing? This isn't normal, it's not supposed to get hot or cold. Never happened to anyone I know.

The cold water gets drained momentarily to the flushing, so the shower has a momentary hotness. Maybe no one flushes the toilet at your house >.> (In my experience, it doesn't happen in apartment buildings or tall structures)

Newer plumbing is designed to avert that issue, but a lot of older homes/apartments still have it.

That must be very inconvenient to have to go outside to turn you water off/on.

I guess you ended up getting burned by trying to avoid getting burned. Isn't irony a bitch?

I was thinking that too. People flush the toilet all the time while I shower (in several different houses) and the only thing that ever happens is the water maybe gets slightly warmer...
