Today, I was discussing my family heritage with my girlfriend's parents. The moment I told them that I came from a German background, her seven-year-old brother pointed at me and yelled, "HITLER!" FML

Today, we had to discuss our heritage at school. When I told the class that I'm German, Japanese, and of the Jewish faith, my teacher laughed at the "irony." Something like this always happens whenever I tell people my background. FML

Today, I excitedly told my family that, after years of studying and dedication, I've been awarded a full scholarship to Germany. My mom's reaction was to start sobbing about me becoming a "heathen" and my dad and brother started telling Nazi jokes. FML

Today, I watched my mother tell a man that the holocaust was "a good thing" and "necessary for population control". That man was my girlfriend's father. Who is Jewish. FML

Today, my daughter is so out of touch with anything not related to her phone and her social popularity that she doesn't know who Hitler was. I had to show her on YouTube, and while we aren't religious anymore, we are a Jewish family so this is an extra level of parental shame for me. FML

Today, there was a new girl in one of my classes. We both corrected a classmate on his grammar, so, trying to make a new friend, I leaned back to her and said, "Haha, fellow Grammar Nazi?" She gave me a disgusted look and told me she was Jewish. FML

damn, so the americans did actually mention world war II? you know, that war that killed 250.000 only dutch jews, and 5 MILLION jewish people from entire europe? all thanks to our german neighbours? okay i know the modern germans don't hate jews, but i think it would take a long time untill we can forget what the german did to us.. i mean, we still hate to lose from germany in football matches (: - and from spain, but our football team did just reaaally bad :p -

I have to admit that I make my fair share of German jokes, especially to my boyfriend who has German heritage, while I'm French-Jewish. Whenever we get in a fight I yell " it's cause I'm a Jew, isn't it!?!" and he calls me a "damn Frenchy". It's an interesting relationship.
