Today, I was accepted to college and received a scholarship equal to almost half the tuition. After sharing this news with my parents, I spent the next 35 minutes getting yelled at about how I wasn't allowed to go there because my boyfriend might go there. FML

Today, I received my acceptance letter to one of the most prestigious universities in the US, as well as a nice scholarship. I was so proud of myself, I eagerly showed my dad, hoping he would shed a tear or two. His only words were, "Just get a job so you can get the hell out of my house." FML

Today, I stayed in a hotel near the college I was applying for a scholarship. We were eating breakfast and there were some other applicants in the breakfast room. As we walked away, my mother yelled, "My daughter's gonna get this scholarship so there's no reason for you muddafuckas to show up." FML

Today, I changed all my plans, after months of him begging me to, so I could go to the same university as my long-term boyfriend. After I sent in my deposit, he told me we couldn't live together in college because I was "invading his space." FML

Today, I was invited to a special meal for receiving a scholarship from my college. My mom refuses to take me because “your sister’s going there too and didn’t get a scholarship; it wouldn’t be fair to her.” I guess fairness doesn’t apply to me. FML

What your parents really mean is that you won't be going to any college, since there is a chance he could go to almost any college. Also, don't forget that they decide where to pay for the beginning of your adult life, but you get to decide where you'll pay for them to spend the end of theirs. I see a cheap nursing home in their future.

Not that you know what you're doing at this time in your life; it's your life to do with what you want, so ultimately it's YOUR choice. If you are looking for the folks to fit the bill then you should be polishing their shoes and counting your blessings. If you are paying for it then take some responsibility.

Next time find a boyfriend that has no goals in life so he won't go to college and there your problems solved or you could just live in your parents basement for the rest of your life.
