Today, I started a new job. After being trained on several obscure computer programs I'm expected to use in just one day, my new boss informed me she's going on a week long vacation starting tomorrow. She's the only other person who knows how this program runs. FML

Today, I began training my replacement at work. She's a senior citizen. She got excited when I taught her how to highlight text on the screen and double-click the mouse because she "never knew how to do those fancy tricks." The job is entirely computer-based. I have to train her for 6 weeks. FML

Today, my boss quit his job and stopped coming in without warning. Guess who just inherited his tasks and responsibilities without the training or pay associated with his manager role. I was hired last year as a junior system admin. FML

Today, I started my new job, and was introduced to my colleague. She seemed old and quite experienced, so I thought she was going to teach me. I was wrong. It turns out I'm a replacement for her daughter, who used to secretly do all of her work for her because she has no idea how to do it herself. FML

Today, after nearly two months of working at my new job, one of my co-workers finally explained to me that the list of tasks that our boss gives me every day are actually HER duties, and as I complete them, she just sits in her office and watches Netflix. FML

That was harsh of her. Although I'm sure you will learn the program's well if you have to use them without help for a week. Think of it as a learning opportunity OP!

If you can't remember the instructions you were told on how to operate the program(s) you should have recorded her instruction on a voice recorder or you should have made a list/manual.

Which program? Unless it's a highly involved system like the UNIX OS or SAP, there should be an in-program guide and online options

In sorry to hear that op! I took an animation figure class and the teacher didn't teach us a single thing. We were all basically chickens running around without our heads (I dropped it because the software crashed on my laptop and he refused to help) I hope things will turn out ok in the end op!
