Today, I spent over $2,000 on a big flatscreen TV. My dad insisted I let him mount it on the wall instead of paying someone to do it. All seemed fine, until the TV came loose and smashed onto the floor. My dad refuses to accept responsibility, and says I should've had a professional install it instead. FML

From what it sounds like, your dad didn't mount the TV on studs. That's like trying to put a TV on cardboard. That's probably why it fell off.

Simple rule to mounting anything of weight on a wall. Bolt to the studs and if the mounting bracket don't line up to the stud, get a nice piece of oak and bolt that to the studs then mount the brackets.

Maybe you should stop letting your dad over?

I'd be demanding that he pays for a new one.

Hmm...maybe you should have used that $2000 as a security deposit at a place of your own.

you don't tell others how they shoud spend THEIR money

Tell the store it was like that when you opened the box?

I knew how this would end before it started
