Today, I really had to go to the bathroom. Due to my fear of public restrooms, I made sure it was clear before I started. I heard someone sigh halfway through. Embarrassed, I waited a full ten minutes before leaving the stall, only to see that it was only the automatic air freshener. FML

I've seen the same thing before in Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Except, in that case, the air freshener was carrying a chainsaw and it was chopping everyone's heads off. OP, you were right to wait inside the stall. Air Fresheners are very dangerous.

I hate portapotties they are the worst of public restrooms. They smell so terrible, but I never thought they could flip over... Now that would be the scariest shit ever.

I have the same fear. well it's not that I am afraid of them, more that I just can't pee in public restrooms unless I absolutely have to. I get nervous :( so I feel ya OP.

I used to be like this, but now I can pee with people there 'cause I know they're doing the same thing. I won't do number 2 in a public bathroom. It just seems wrong....

Some of the automated ones emit small sprays every half hour or so. That small spray does sound like someone breathing out. I think the OP meant that kind of sigh, not the heavy sigh that people make when their sad.
