Today, I had to go take swimming lessons because my mom has a fear I'll drown and I'm totally afraid of swimming anyway and never get anywhere near water. My instructor? A high school classmate of mine. My fellow swimming classmates? 5 and 6 year old kids. FML

Today, while teaching swimming to a bunch of five year-olds, one particularly bratty girl decided she didn't want to swim and led the entire class to strike, leaving the pool empty, and me without a job. Apparently I was teaching the next world tyrant to swim. FML

Today, I was working as a swim instructor for kids. Teaching them not to be afraid of the water, I put my face in the water and blew bubbles. I asked them to try it. All of them did, except for one. I went right to him and blew bubbles again. He then said to me, "but I just peed in that water." FML

Today, we were slowly introducing my daughter to the pool to help her get over her terrible fear of water. My father-in-law scoffed, called us pussies, and tossed my daughter straight into the water. When I threw him out, he insisted he was just trying to teach her to swim "the right way." FML

Today, while taking part in a lifeguarding exercise, I was supposed to "drown" to get another guard to save me. After all was done, my boss called me into his office and screamed at me for "drowning the wrong way," and threatening our reputation. FML

If you walk on water they will say you can't swim.Keep this in mind OP you can't win everyone over..Some people are just dicks for no reason.Hope this incident doesn't bring you down!Good luck :)

I hated parents like that when I was a swim instructor! Part of the reason I much preferred to teach the adult beginner and tri classes.

Yeah, that's how my grandfather taught us (his grandkids) how to swim. Awesome memories. Can't really blame him though, his first experience of swimming was to jump off a bridge with a watermellon he was stealing. It was that or starve. I agree, Some people really need to man up and get over things.

yes because all kids are going to react the same way and learn how to swim using that method...just because it worked for you doesn't mean it'll work for everyone else.
