He's chinese. If I was a native german, I would expect an easy A in my german class.
What I don't understand is why someone who (I assume) can speak Chinese would take a Chinese class… sounds like a waste of a credit to me. I guess OP thought it'd be an easy A, so YDI for that reason.

That actually happens often. I've had friends move to Mexico during high school, and they always did poorly on their English tests. It's because they go into more detail in the class than we ever did here. They concentrate on the little things we don't notice. It's normal.
