Today, I found out that the 2 loud "firework booms" I heard were actually a guy shooting his dog on the unfinished road behind my house. FML

This is one of those rare FMLs where I really can't understand how anyone could have clicked "you deserve it". Flame wars are breaking out over whether or not the guy was justified in shooting his dog, but that's not the point - the point is that OP stumbled across a horrible, gruesome explanation for something they thought was innocent. Nobody deserves that shit.
