Today, I have to pay a $20 customs fee on the replacement charging cord for my tablet pen, bringing the total up to $60 I’ve paid for this $4 cord. FML

Today, I bought my third replacement cable for my new laptop after the last two didn't fit. I was about to go and buy another one when I realized that the charging port was actually on the other side and the hole I had been trying to fit the cable in was the headphone port. FML

Today, after having lost my phone three days ago, I paid a $150 non-refundable fee to have my phone replaced and mailed to me by Tuesday. A half hour later, I found my original phone. FML

Now you have to pay me a $3 comment fee, which now brings your total up to $63. Lucky for you I didn't have to use "I hope you mean EX-boyfriend" or "shitty situation," because each of those carries a $4 surcharge.

Shipping was $40 for a $4 cord?! Holy cow! Did you mean $40 cord? You can most likely try to contend the value of the item before paying (if it was $4 not $40). Contact the customs office you'd be sending your bill to and request a new inspection.
