Today, my Dad found out that like anime and I that actually collect anime figurines. I wanted to hide my hobbies from my parents, but he found out. Luckily he didn't mind the fact that I have this kind of hobby, but he went on to share the fact that I have "this kind of hobby" to our relatives. FML

Today, I met my girlfriend's dad, who it turns out is such an anime nerd he decided to overplay the "idiot overprotective dad" character all afternoon, including making the dramatic faces, playing theme music from his phone, and at one point threatening my genitals with an oversized foam battle axe. FML

Today, I invited a friend over and showed him my collectible action figures. He also collects the ones I do. There was this one particular rare one I own, and he was quite fascinated by it. It mysteriously vanished after he went home. He claims to know nothing about it, and got pissed for accusing him. FML

Today, despite all my hard work persuading my retired husband to take up sensible hobbies, he now cosplays at comic book conventions, collects replica swords from films, goes paintballing once a month with men half his age, and watches two hours of Japanese anime every night before bed. FML

Today, I realised how much my family prefer my cousin than me. I love anime/manga, but my family never got involved, so it was very lonely growing up and I was bullied in school for it. Now I'm an adult, my cousin is into it, and they want me to take a interest in her so, "she has someone to talk and isn't lonely." FML

Today, after weeks of my yelling, my boyfriend finally listened and got a hobby. Instead of getting into something sensible like martial arts, he chose tabletop gaming. Now I have to listen to hours of boring stories about pretend fantasy worlds, and admit to everyone that my boyfriend is a nerd. FML

Today, I knew my son was obsessed with Anime, which is fine because he has a job, and seems like a functional human being, but this afternoon he sent out invites to all our relatives to a virtual reality wedding, where he will marry some sort of nonexistent cartoon girl called "Wife Fu." FML

Who cares? My god, I still watch pro wrestling, collect Star Trek ships, collect Thundercats(80’s version) figures/toys, and buy Lego sets. I don’t care what anyone thinks of my hobbies, it’s my life and not theirs

Somewhat the same here. I own (and built) some of the largest lego sets available! I’m 37 and am totally geeking out while building them. I also have a hobby with electronics, vintage computers and tech (Reel 2 Reel, Vinyl, DAT, BetaCam SP, 8/ Super 8mm film, etc…). Hobby away! I’m also an avid anime, Manga and Huge Neon Genesis Evangelion fan. I staff at an anime convention in the midwest (tech and AV). So it’s not weird anymore. Embrace it and enjoy it! (For reference, I staff Anime Nebraskon)

I'm 35 and have a massive collection of Ninja Turtles, most of which I had as a kid. A big chunk of that collection is on display in a glass china cabinet in my living room, and I don't care what people think. Everyone is allowed to have their own hobbies and interests. And if you bought your collection with your own money, your parents can't say anything.
