Today, I found out that the guy I was talking to for over a year, who told me he was dying from Covid, is perfectly fine and he just didn't want to talk to me anymore. FML

You're pretty gullible. Someone who is dying from Covid doesn't hang on for so long. Long haulers are not in mortal peril most of the time, so you were involved with a serial exaggerator or an outright liar.

Maybe it was written poorly, like OP was talking to him for a year, then he began "Dying from Covid" recently to get rid of her. This ***** so old to use as an excuse, I remember people using it in old Yahoo chatrooms. I'm surprised they didn't default to Cancer, but I suppose Covid could be much quicker. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
