Today, I got a 4-hour Saturday detention as a punishment for skipping a regular detention. We had to wear full school uniforms, then sit at our desks in silence and write long boring punishment essays. It was HORRIBLE. I don't think schools should be allowed to detain and punish pupils on a Saturday. Do you agree? FML

Today, I was given a call home, a 3-day-suspension, and a week of detention in school for a "serious violation of the code of conduct." Said violation? Jogging in the middle of the hall. FML

Today, I finished my classwork and my homework early. Since we weren't allowed to leave the room, I decided to draw. My teacher noticed and gave me detention for "goofing off" when I should be doing my work. When I told the teacher I was already done, they gave me a second detention for "attempting to defy them". FML

Today, I got detention from my teacher for not handing an assignment in. It would be understandable if I hadn't handed it in a week before it was due. She won't listen to reason. FML

Today, I forgot to bring a letter to my secondary school, so I went to detention. I told them it got lost, but it's only when my parents phoned and told them the same thing that they believed it. So I got detention for nothing. FML

Today, my parents got a call from my English teacher. She told them that I have 14 days of detention because I've been cutting class. I've been there every day, but apparently she never noticed me. FML

Today, I was in class and really needed to pee. My teacher has chosen to replace our hall pass with a copy of War and Peace. She picks out a page for us to memorise on the shitter, and repeat by heart later. If we can't remember, we get locked out of class, and then get detention for being absent. FML

Today, I explained to my teacher that I wasn't at school yesterday due to three doctor appointments for my moderate epilepsy. Yesterday was senior skip day. She gave me detention for lying. FML

I don't think schools should be holding detention on saturday because the teachers are already overworked and underpaid without also needing to sacrifice their weekends, not because of you since you deserve it. Plus, the only one you can blame for saturday detention is yourself, since you yourself admit tbat you chose to skip on regular detention, so what did you expect?

Literally no one is going to agree with you. The entire point of a punishment is to make you stop and think the next time you’re about to do something you know is wrong, and to deter you from doing it. If you’re this upset over a Saturday detention clearly it worked.

There used to be such a thing as Saturday school. I've been out of school close to 20 years, so I don't know if it's still a thing, but... regardless, if you hadn't skipped detention in the first place, you wouldn't be in this situation. You've got no one to blame but yourself.

I do agree. I'm a parent, and if one of my kids was handed a weekend detention of any kind, I'd be up at the school telling them that it's all good and well that the child be punished but on THEIR time (so during school hours), not on MINE.

No, not one bit. If your shit disturbed the teachers time, the teacher has EVERY right to give detention on. A Saturday to disturb their time. An eye for an eye. A perfect lesson for ANYONE to learn!
