Today, I had an interview for a college. The college is in Rhode Island. I live on the West coast. When I asked the interviewer if they got to the mainland by boat or by some other form of transportation, he told me Rhode Island is not an island. FML

Today, I was interviewed by this TV crew who asked me what I thought of Rhode Island being voted for the second most neurotic state. I thought they said that Rhode Island was the second most erotic state. I commented. FML

Today, after being told numerous times how sexist the East Coast is, I went ahead with my East Coast grad school architecture interview. The first thing out of the interviewer's mouth was, "Are you sure you don't want to do interior architecture?" FML

Snow day

Today, is the second time this week that school is delayed because of snow or "extreme ice." It's like we're Texas now, they get 2 inches of snow and the whole state gets shut down, but no, I live in Rhode Island. I gotta go to work. FML

Today, after three and a half years of working dead-end jobs with a bachelor's degree, I got a call from a potential employer in my degree field, who wanted to set up an interview. The problem: the interview is across the country, and I'm too broke to pay the travel expenses. FML

Today, after years of hard work, I had an interview at the highest ranking university in the world 800 miles from where I live. It snowed heavily for the last 2 days closing every road, railway, and airport causing me to miss the interview. There is no rescheduling. FML

Today, I had a job interview. I got there as quick as I could, having to travel two hours into a city I'd never been to. When I arrived, they told me I was turned down for being too late. They'd rescheduled the interview an hour earlier and I wasn't notified of the change. FML

Today, I travelled cross-country to interview for my dream job. The team seemed to love me and I had a lot of fun. In the airport on the way home I saw a news report that the company is closing. FML

Today, my mom yelled at me for taking too long at a job interview, and that it was a waste of her time to drive me to it. I just quit my job, moved away from my boyfriend and the coast to help take care of her in Idaho. FML

Today, whilst on a phone interview with a college I really want to go to, my mother picks up the other line and shouts into the phone "She's not going to college, she's lazy and she'll only disappoint you." The interviewer hung up before I could say anything. FML

dude... what? even if you don't know all those little new england states, don't you know there's no island of any sort out in the northeast? except manhattan, but I certainly hope you can tell the difference

Really? You might want to join the OP in some basic geography lessons. What about Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket? I seem to think those two islands might be in the Northeast.

To be fair, not all of us on the west coast think Rhode Island is an island. I live on the west coast, but go to school in RI myself and I knew it wasn't an island when I applied.

I get what you mean. Being from RI I was trying to run threw what college it could be. Johnson & Wales, University of Rhode Island, Brown, Rhode Island College, Providence College, Roger Williams University, Salve Regina, Rhode Island School of Design and I am sure I missed some too.

You just missed Community College of RI and the tech schools...I'm from RI but go to school in VT and you'd be amazed at the amount of people up HERE (two states away) that ask me if it's an island. It's a bit ridiculous.

omg I did the same thing lol went to college in VT (I skipped CCRI since you can't live on campus ohh yeah we have tech schools too...lol for such a small state we have quite a few colleges)
