American wages are pathetic. My thirteen year old daughter will get more than that at the pizza shop she is starting at. The starting wage in my workplace is $25 per hour and thats with no required training before you start. I realise we have different economies, but that is still a big difference. That being said, your brother is ungrateful. He should have at least accepted the position until he could find something he was happier with. FYL.

It is a bit silly, especially if it at least helps. I have had job offers before when I was unemployed that I've turned down because the fuel costs alone made it almost not worth it.

some people realize they can do better in the short term on unemployment. I made the equivalent of $18/hr on unemployment for about a year. then I refiled the next year to make a dollar more an hour still in unemployment. had I taken a job for 9 or 17, I'd have made less money. just how it works. teto(to each their own)
