Today, I learned that the money I work hard for on YouTube has been transferred to the wrong person's banking account. That person is my ex-girlfriend. FML

So... Maybe I've just been away from YouTube for too long, but how exactly are these people making money? I'm picturing the how-to hair videos, people playing difficult songs on their guitar, and videos of people killing boss monsters on Runescape. Is there something I've missed here?

There are actually certain people, like Jenna Marbles, who gets paid by advertisers, different companies who does whatever, just to talk about their products, showing it, being around different venues because people like them. Loads of others, like Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber, made songs and got famous because they were noticed by music companies who actually DO look for new talent online. And some make funny videos and end up in comedy films because the right people saw them. And last but not least, some are entertaining and their fans want more, advertisers notice the amount if clicks they get and pay youtube, who pays the uploader, money to advertise on their site. Simple.

Interesting. Thank you for the explanation. I am rarely ever on YouTube anymore - it doesn't get along with my computer. I had no idea people were able to make money that way.

Its same with bloggers as well. Those girls who braid their hair and talk about it actually gets way more money than me through a year by just writing about certain things. They often gets sponsored trips and free clothes/stuff as well. Huge marked, but it usually takes a lot of work and promotion to even get anywhere with blogs or video blogs. Unless you're filthy lucky.

Also, if you have enough subscribers, you can become a "partner" with YouTube. They pay you to make more vids

Also some people end having things like T-shirts, wristbands, dolls, or whatever else that they get a certain profit from. This usually happens after a decent amount of popularity.

Either you get back together with your ex or quickly transfer account information...I do the same thing and have them send me a check through the mail in my name...

That's too bad!! Can you change it since it's your account with YouTube?

Honestly if we knew who you were it would be more funny

That's sucks op, but seriously, any job you can legitimately do in your pajamas is not hard work

Uplode part yes. Going out, gathering people to be in video, filming video, mayhaps climbing something to get a good angle, buying good video camera, ect not a pajama thing.
