Today, it's been a year since my mom was diagnosed as being borderline diabetic. Since then, she has been giving all her unhealthy foods to me. With all due respect Mom, I don't plan on becoming diabetic myself any time soon. FML

Today, after taking vacation time to visit her, my mom told me she was glad I was leaving so she could get back to her diet. I'm prediabetic and have been trying to manage the condition. She ordered dessert at every meal and was the only one in the family who did. FML

Today, my stepmother, an uncontrolled diabetic who refuses to change her abhorrent eating habits, berated me for how "mean" I am for limiting my kids’ junk food, and making them eat a portion of vegetables with every meal. Yeah, real mean. FML

Today, after finding out that my mom is diabetic last year in November, this July a good friend of mine died from diabetes. I also found out that my dad is diabetic, as well as my grandma. It would appear that Wilford Brimley hates my guts. FML

Today, after several months of eating right, exercising, and weight loss, my mother has yet again arrived at my house, unannounced and with a very sugary cake. She's been doing this most weeks since I lost 50 pounds. FML

Today, my morbidly obese mother gave me an angry lecture at dinner, saying without any trace of irony that my vegetarian diet is "unhealthy and utterly unacceptable". FML

Today, while visiting my parents, I observed that I've been able to visit more often because I've avoided getting sick the whole year. My mother responded by reminding me that I need to get my act together if I'm going to lose weight and get healthier. Not the reaction I hoped for, Mom. FML

Today, my mom went on a rant about how insulin and other diabetic medications are evil western poisons, and that she can control her condition naturally on her own. That would be great, if she actually ate right and exercised instead of just using meditation to “think” herself healthy. FML

Today, my already disabled mother is on the brink of becoming bedridden due to her weight. I flat out refused to buy fast food or unhealthy food to keep in the fridge. She started screaming through the wall that I was beating her, until the neighbors called the cops. Sadly, this isn’t the first time. FML

There are several solutions to this problem. If you have an office job, or even a non-office job with a staff room, you can bring the snacks to work. You can also give the food to the poor. Dozens of Santa are currently scouring every city in North America searching for non-perishable food; they can take yours. They can also give you some addresses where you can drop your food after Christmas. Some cities have "free fridges" where you can drop the perishable diabetes-inducers. Those also have a freezer for ice cream, popsicles and other frozen lumps of sugar. Worst case scenario, tell your mom you won't take her foodstuff anymore and she can send them to the poor herself.
