I'm too old for this

Today, my parents lectured me about how my girlfriend will ruin my life, because she's a single mom, a recovering alcoholic, and has chronic health issues. Apparently, I should be with their friend's rude, trashy daughter, who can't keep a job, and goes on a drunken, drug-fueled bender every other week. I'm 31. FML
I agree, your life sucks 900

Especially when we are young “love is blind” meaning we are responding to feelings. Age and experience usually teaches or convinces us to consider other things before diving into a serious relationship. Realistically, the way you describe it, current girlfriend is certainly a step up from some emotional child who hasn’t addressed her problems. On the other hand kids can either be a blessing or a problem - It depends on the situation. And it’s great that girlfriend is recovering from alcoholism, which is much better than being an active alcoholic. But sometimes people slip back into alcoholism… I advise you to be with, and love who you want, who wants to reciprocate that love to you. But I do not advise getting married or having a child until you really know that she and you are stable and the two of you and your family can make it.

Neither are good options tbh, unless you have really low self esteem.
