Today, I went to a parade. While I was there, I ran into my ex and his new girlfriend. Trying to prove I was over him, I tried to act like I was oblivious to them and having a great time. I turned around, only for a piece of candy to hit me square me in the eye. FML

you shouldn't have to act completely oblivious to prove you're over him. you could've just said hi and acted civilized, despite how bad your breakup was.

I completely agree. If Op really wanted to act like she was over him she should've walked right over and said hi, making a point to be really nice to the girlfriend. Be the mature one Op. Pretending you don't see them doesn't look like you're over him.
