Today, while lifeguarding, I saw someone in the wave-pool who appeared to be drowning. So, I jumped in to attempt to save him. Turns out he wasn't drowning, he only had one arm. He yelled at me. FML

I feel so bad that he cried but you were just doing your job Op you made a simple mistake though I'm sorry it happened.

You did your job. Sometimes things happen. I heard a story about a divemaster rescuing an unconscious diver - only to find out said diver was conscious and had been lying still trying to get a photograph for about 5 minutes. We can get sued if someone is drowning and we didn't attempt to save them, so it's always better to err on the side of caution.

that does suck but how are you supposed to know? you were doing your job! maybe one day he will lose his insecurities and move on.

agree with 1. my friend actually recently drowned in his backyard pool up the street from me. poor guy. but im glad you tried to save him . fyl. but fhl also

If yo are used to having one arm your entire life you learn to do things different ways. I bet the one arm that he has is very strong and coordinated.
