Worst argument ever
Today, my boyfriend told me I should stop talking about his major gambling problem because he still loves me even though I gained weight. Apparently that evens things out. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I was telling my boyfriend about how self conscious I am and how I obsess about my weight. He said, "Don't be ridiculous, you don't need to lose THAT much weight." FML
Today, my boyfriend let me know that when we met, he wouldn't have even talked to me if I was as fat as I am now. But lucky for me, he stays with me because, "there's love or something." FML
Today, I told my boyfriend that I gained a few pounds and thought I looked fat. He replied that I looked the same and that I shouldn't worry because he likes fat girls. I never thought I was fat before this. FML
Today, my boyfriend admitted to purposely sabotaging all my weight loss efforts. When I confronted him, he said it’s because he doesn’t want me to get thin and turn into one of those stuck up, snobby, mean girl types that wouldn’t date him in high school. We’re in our 30s dude, get over it! FML
Today, I was talking to my boyfriend about how I'm self conscious about my weight. He looks at me and says, "Don't worry babe, I've always been kind of a chubby chaser." FML
Today, my boyfriend encouragingly told me that he could tell I was losing weight, all because I had one roll fewer than usual on my stomach. FML
Today, my chunky boyfriend told me that he'd be less attracted to me if I gained weight. I have low self-esteem. FML
Today, yet again. my boyfriend told me I'm getting fat, even after I told him to stop and that it's affecting my mental health. I had an eating disorder previously, and now I'm thinking about going back to just eating an apple a day. FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me because I'm now about 15 pounds overweight. When I called him a hypocrite as he's over 40 pounds overweight, he said that his weight didn't matter because "it's the girl's job to look hot." FML
Today, I noticed that I've been gaining some weight. Don't worry, my boyfriend doesn't mind. His new favorite thing is putting my boobs on his head and saying he feels "safe". FML

Take a gamble and dump his ass.

There is no comparison, a gambling addiction will literally take everything from his life. If he doesn't get some help (do something about the issue) you shouldn't stay to see the destruction.

Did he ask you to gain weight? People don't normally ask to be addicts. like your weight he has a problem.

Very well stated.

I've Been in a similar situation, except my ex had substance problems and he's a 30 y/o loser going nowhere bc of it. That aside, I'm not sure the way you're going about it now, but it sounds like you press about it and it's starting to grate on his nerves and you two are probably going to start becoming more unhappy and/or fighting. If his problem is as bad as you say it is maybe you should issue him an ultimatum and go from there. You can nag him about it all you want, but fact of the matter is he's not going to change unless he really wants to and there's not really much you can do about it except cut your losses if he doesn't.

Dump this d***head

His problem is definitely much bigger, but obesity does is a health issue. Still, he needs serious help. Compulsive gambling is a mental disorder.

It is, because he didn't mention your problem.

It is a lot easier to loose weight than it is to cure a gambling addiction. You deserve better OP.
Queen_of_Night 20
Where does it says OP is obese? Where does she give any indication that while she gained weight that she is unhealthy in anyway? He's trying to misdirect the issues by talking about flaws that bother her even though a major gambling addiction could lose them their home or their jobs. OP if he doesn't get that issue under control you need to go. Addicts can't be trusted. It's not something they can stop.

U know nothing of an addict's disease. Ur obviously commenting on a topic just to be heard/read. It's a shame that ppl like you don't sit and be quiet more often. This is coming from a college graduate 3x over.

Dump him, get revenge by loosing some weight and being fabulous. You probably don't want to be with a fat shaming gambling adict anyway.

You should dump him and I've seen a video from buzzfeed that talks about relationships and one was almost all couples wouldn't care if there other significant gains weight so he's just a jackass
