Today, while working at McDonald's a car full of obnoxious teens came through. They had made a $30 order, and handed me a tin of small change, claiming that on a McDonald's ad they saw that we, employees, liked counting change. I had to count out $30 in spare change during a rush period at work. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, McDonalds charged me 21 cents for a honey mustard packet. The jerk manager made me break a $50 bill. So I grabbed all their napkins, carried them into the parking lot and tossed them all into the air in protest and drove off. Down the road, I realized I left my wallet at the counter. FML
Gratitude
Today, I saw a man help an elderly lady with her tray at the local McDonald's. I wanted to do something nice for him, so I added a couple extra nuggets in his meal. He later came up to me and told me I was dumb and didn't know how to count, and that was why I was working at McDonald's. FML
Today, a customer came into McDonalds and placed his order. He insisted on putting each coin on the counter rather than handing them straight to me, because he doesn't like touching "poor people". FML
Today, a McDonald's employee had to correct my math after counting out $2.37 in change. I'm in AP Calculus and am currently learning how to find the derivative of an inverse of a logarithm. FML
That's how I roll
Today, a buttmunch customer brought in $7 worth of pennies I had to count and roll. As I was putting them in the deposite box at the end of my shift, I fumbled and dropped the rolls. All but one broke, spilling their contents on the floor. FML
I just work here
Today, while checking out a couple at work, I handed them their receipt and wished them a good day. The woman promptly pulled her husband to the side, and whispered to him about how much of a "fucking idiot" I was for making the prices so high. I work at McDonald's. FML
Lovin' it
Today, as the manager of a McDonald's, I had to ask a group of high school kids to calm down after several complaints from other guests. Their rational response was to pour soda on my head and throw burgers at me. Upon returning from chasing them out, I sprained my foot. FML
Today, after a long day at work, I was starving, so I stopped by the drive-through for something to eat. When I got home and hurriedly opened the bag, all I found inside was napkins. Thanks, McDonald's. FML
Highlight of the week
Today, I work at McDonald's. The entire crew, myself included, got visibly excited that we had new trash cans and dust pans. FML
Mismanagement
Today, my parents accidentally bounced some checks through a miscommunication. They now owe the bank $700 and can't afford groceries, which means we're relying on me, a 17-year-old girl who works at McDonald's 2 days a week, to get us by for the next few weeks. FML

you should have said "**** you, and come back with cash"...or, you should have gotten your manager to say that instead...i've done that as a manager because bringing in a tin of uncounted change and expecting the clerk to count it for you is just plain rude. it holds up the line behind you and makes everyone unhappy.

You should have refused them service unless they counted it out themselves. If it was during a rush, your manager would have backed you up.

I know that is a commercial here in NZ, trust some morons to act upon it like that. The worst thing at the Mcdonalds i work at is more the asshole managers than the customers... Well i gotta put gas in the car to get to uni somehow

No, the legal and tender thing has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not it can be refused - If they had handed her a $100 bill, she would have been required to reject it. It solely means that the money can be legal tender for debts - its up to the recipient to decide what denominations they'll take. No Mcdonalds accepts $100 bills. And that money is legal and tender for all debts, public and private, and pretty much any mcdonalds has enough money to give change. Even if the customer ordered over $100 worth of food, he still wouldn't be allowed to pay with a $100. When you pay a parking ticket, you aren't allowed to have more than a few dollars in change. And you can be fined if you only give them change for your debt. http://wcbstv.com/watercooler/pennies.traffic.ticket.2.888243.html

Well I don't know if its the same in NZ as Australia but I assume it is. You don't have to accept more than $20 in change from a customer so you were well within your rights to tell him to stick it. Anyways though - you get paid while counting change right? so no big deal for you

Get a real job and maybe you wouldn't have to count change!

The phrase "Thank you! Please pull forward until I can get around to counting this..." comes to mind. you know when you get around to it, right?

Ugh this is why I hate people my age, and why everyone else does too. Stupid things like this aren't funny, while they're probably laughing their asses off thinking its the best thing ever.

I read it, as well. It was a good read.
