Today, while watching a family movie, my mother made every effort to make sure I covered my eyes during a kissing scene. I guess it shouldn't be a surprise, since she still forces me to put my phone in her room every night as she makes me go to bed at 8:30 PM. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I went to see a movie with my parents. During a sex scene, my dad covered my eyes. I'm married and have 2 kids. FML
Overreaction much?
Today, I was watching a movie that had a mild sex scene in it. My mother walked in just as that scene was starting and she flipped out. I'm now grounded. She's taken my TV and laptop out of my room and refuses to let me see my boyfriend because she's sure he's the cause of my "disgusting behaviour". FML
Drama farmers
Today, my dad lectured me because my mom cried herself to sleep last night. Why? Because I didn't want to watch a movie with her. I had to go to sleep to be up for work at 6 a.m., and was too tired to watch a movie in the first place. I live with drama queens. FML
Today, I took a girl I like to the movies. Everything went great until I went in to kiss her. She didn't object, but my mother, who apparently followed me to the theater and was now pulling me away by my shirt while saying, "We're leaving!" certainly did. FML
Dude, what are you doing?
Today, my mom came into my room to give me a goodbye kiss. Due to the routine of my girlfriend doing the exact same thing in the exact same spot, I held the kiss way longer than what a mother/son kiss should last. My mom actually had to tell me to "let go". FML
Today, I was watching the movie Frozen with my 8 year old daughter. I had seen it before, so I sung along with some of the songs. My daughter put a finger over my lips, said "Shhhhhhhhut the fuck up," then turned back to the TV, giggling. FML
Phoebe??
Today, while babysitting a young girl, I put on the movie Bambi, as she told me it was her favorite movie. I didn't know that her parents always skipped the scene where Bambi's mom dies. Despite my attempts to comfort her, she was still upset when her parents returned. Her mom blamed me. FML
Today, my parents watched a horror movie with some creepy child in it. Apparently, I sound just like that kid when I call for my mom, so now she doesn't want me to call her mom anymore. FML
Today, my mom decided it was a good idea to put a camera in my room so I could be watched at all times, to make sure I'm behaving. I'm 14. FML
Creeped out
Today, my mom came in my room to give me a goodbye kiss. Out of pure instinct, from hours of doing this to my girlfriend in this exact same spot, I held the kiss way longer than what a mother-son kiss should last. My mom actually had to tell me to "let go" before I let her leave. FML

If you're over 16, FYL. If you're under 16, deal with it. Sorry, but this ain't even an FML

The site edited out the part where the OP said s/he was 17.
SPN_lover666 27
So OP is still too young to move out of the house.
Feklfekl2222 32
You can move out at 16 so OP could in theory, it would just be incredibly difficult
MandieL 27
I moved out at 16, but in with my now husband. I was lucky it worked out for me, I would never recommend it to someone else. Regardless, I think OP is more like 13 or 14.

You're gonna go to college and she won't be able to keep a short leash on you. Then she'll regret keeping you sheltered.

Unless you're 5 years old I think you need to have a talk with your mom

I believe you are too young to use this app...and I believe you mean iPod touch not phone...
SPN_lover666 27
Someone said that the OP is 17. Just because the APP says 18+, that doesn't mean teenagers under the age of 18 can't use it. The FML site says you have to be 13+ to use it.
worldclassrager 41
Oh...well I just knew about the app was 17+ nothing about the website criteria... Thanks 34

I know the feeling too well. When I was a teenager, my mom would read my MSN messenger logs and cellphone text messages. When I stopped logging messages, she got a keylogger. I know not many people like to acknowledge teenagers are people and deserve basic respect, but when you have that much power over someone, you simply don't want to stop. She didn't. One of these days, I went home early to find her in my house, in my room, with her hand inside my purse. I'm 26. That's the same woman who took me to the court over some inheritance I got from my father when I was under 18, I'm supposed to be taking care of the stuff now, but that would give me too much financial independence. She'd rather give me part of my own money as an "allowance" and pocket the rest. I may win in court, but I already lost on all else.

Yea I would be changing locks and telling her she's not allowed in my house without me there
countryb_cth 38
That is ridiculously over protective. I agree with the changing the locks and also maybe having a talk with her about boundaries.

When I was still in school my dad tried to do this to me. Didn't work, but I know how you feel OP.

Covering your yes during a kissing scene is inappropriate regardless of your age, but if you're young enough then she may actually be doing a favor by taking away your phone so you get a healthy amount of sleep, as long as that's her motivation and she's not just trying to "protect" you.

I don't know it sounds really controlling. If a boyfriend or girlfriend did this it would be ringing alarm bells. She seems to not trust OP and wants to control everything to an extreme point. I think it sounds utterly unreasonable.

My 14 year old Neice has her phone with her mom at bed time for both the logical reasons. So she's not on it all night, and so she doesn't have to worry about peer pressure of being asked for late night nudes and the like. (yes I know this can be done during the day too, it's just more common at night)
