Today, while waitressing, I served a family with a little girl who was wearing a Frozen shirt. I told her I'm friends with Elsa and that she taught me to sing. The girl asked me to sing a song, so I did. Not even 5 seconds in, she started bawling. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was watching the movie Frozen with my 8 year old daughter. I had seen it before, so I sung along with some of the songs. My daughter put a finger over my lips, said "Shhhhhhhhut the fuck up," then turned back to the TV, giggling. FML
Today, I visited my girlfriend in the preschool she's interning at. She asked me to continue reading The Little Mermaid to her class, handing me the book. After the story, the whole class started to cry. She never told me to sugarcoat the ending and lie, Disney-style. FML
Today, while waiting on a customer at a restaurant, I accidentally asked a midget if she'd like a children's menu. FML
Today, I was working at a place where if you're tipped, you sing. After a lady paid for her ice cream, she pulled out 5 dollars. Thinking it was a tip, I took it, and sang the song. She didn't mean to tip me. I was stopped by the woman slapping me. FML
Today, I was working as a character at an amusement park. I was walking with another character and we went over to a baby girl. She smiled and laughed at my co-worker. When she saw me, she started screaming and crying. FML
Today, like any other day since that stupid movie Frozen came out, people have been asking me if I want to build a snowman. My name is Elsa. FML
Stop that now
Today, I saw my 4 year-old daughter singing and dancing, so I decided to sing along. As soon as I started singing she said, without blinking her eyes and super calmly, "Could you please stop doing that?" FML
Today, I was at work, the Disney Store. A little boy was crying so I went over to him. After talking to him for a little while I found out he couldn't find his mother. When he became comfortable I went to help him stand up, he choked back his tears and then puked all over me from the waist down. FML
Good intentions, but…
Today, I was at the mall, I saw a girl crying that her ice cream had fallen on the floor. Feeling generous, I bought her a new one. She threw it on the ground, laughed, and came over to her mom and told that I was bothering her, so the mom called security. FML
Today, I was doing karaoke with my girlfriend's family, when the 5 year old came over and shut off my microphone. FML

Unless you personally know Idina Menzel and she taught you to sing I suggest you stop using that line.

Isn't it just to keep the magic of youth alive?
Ninja_Porcupine 13
She was just trying to make the little girl happy...
starile 20
NONSENSE! There are enough people in the world trying to make children happy with LIES! OP shouldn't have gotten her hopes up if she couldn't truly rise to the expectation. Lies. All lies... *rocks back and forth*

You do realize when she says she's "friends with Elsa" that she in fact does legitimately play Elsa at one of the Disney parks right? smh people.

how'd the parents take tht XD

Why did she start bawling ..?
cfojo 19
I'm guessing it's because OP did not, in fact, know Elsa.

It was probably a mix of what #19 said and her poor singing.

MAYBE, OPs singing was so good, the girl had no choice but to believe she knew Elsa and started crying out of jealousy.

No way Elsa taught you how to sing with that terrible voice!
Brandi_Faith 34
Op, I know you were trying to be nice to the kid, but you kinda set yourself up on that one, lol. If you tell them that Elsa taught you to sing, they're going to expect you to sound like (or at least, as good as) Elsa. This is hilarious!
marigoldcobain 21
Huh. That was kind of a weird thing to tell a kid.

I was thinking the same thing, a little odd- but whatever I guess
yerawizardlizzy 27
The "she taught me how to sing" part was weird but I've told little kids I'm friends with such and such a character. Probably picked up from a life surrounded by Disney employees.

I tell little kids "oh that's my favourite movie too!" And talk about that, I wouldn't tell them that i met a character, that's really weird unless you've actually met a person dressed as that character

Maybe she was crying because she didn't like the food and not because of you allegedly horrible singing.?

I doubt it

Don't lie if you don't have the talent
whassallt26 13
You can see why Op said that, to be friendly to the kid, but honestly you must have been pretty awful to make her cry
a1_z9 10
Ha some kids will cry at anything. I used to cry at my mum's (perfectly acceptable) singing just because of the tone of it!

What the hell are you smoking..?
