Today, while up in my room getting ready to go out, I thought I heard some trick or treaters knocking on the door. I ignored them because I didn't have any candy. The knocking got louder and longer. I walked downstairs, and noticed that the living room ceiling was falling down onto the floor. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I went upstairs to scold my boys for running in the house because someone could get hurt. As I turned around to come back downstairs I tripped and fell all the way down to the landing at the bottom. I could hear them laughing in their rooms. FML
Today, I was woken at 4 a.m. by the sounds of someone crashing down the stairs. I scrambled out, still half-asleep, to find out that nobody was in an agonized heap at the bottom. The walls are so thin in my house that I could hear the neighbour falling down HIS stairs. FML
Today, a kid came Trick-or-Treating at my house. When I told her it was still one more day until Halloween, and that I didn't have any candy, she wound-up her fist, punched me in the groin, and ran off laughing. FML
Who goes there?
Today, I heard the sound of footsteps in the basement. Thinking it was burglars I grabbed a baseball bat and hurried down the stairs. I then tripped on the stairs, fell down them and smacked my head on the bat. The sound of footsteps I heard? It was my cat playing in some cardboard boxes. FML
Today, after months of telling my landlord about the weak floorboards in my living room, I fell through them as I was trying to repair them myself. FML
Today, I had to tell all the trick-or-treaters that I'd run out of candy. I'd actually bought about $50 worth of candy, but managed to eat all of it by myself, sitting alone in my apartment, exactly like last year. FML
Today, I opened the door to what I thought would be a group of trick or treaters. It was actually a naked man. He wanted to come in. FML
Ouch
Today, I discovered that the odd creaking noise I hear when I walk down the stairs is actually a crack that had been getting larger over the years. I found out when I fell through and plummeted to the stairs below. FML
Today, I spent over an hour decorating my house for trick or treaters. I never got one person at my door because I forgot to unlock my gate. FML
Today, I took a box of Halloween decorations down from the attic. Inside, were a bunch of fake spiders. I emptied the box onto the floor and the "fake" spiders crawled all over the living room in opposite directions. FML

how the hell does that happen?

To the rational mind, this would just be a coincidence. Others would have you believe that since she cheaped out and didn't supply "treats" to the trick-or-treaters, her ceiling collapse is her "trick." The Great Pumpkin can be a real bitch!

WTF?? what happened?? more detail please. did the kids do it? I don't know how they should do something like that, but otherwise it doesn't make much sense. it just happened by itself?

I think op is trying to say, that she was in another room when she heard what she thought was a bunch of trick or treaters knocking in the door, but when she came into the living room, she found out that the knocking sound was the ceiling, falling onto the floor.... hopefully that helps!!!!

I don't think it was someone knocking on the door, I think it was the noises of the ceiling falling..

It was likely the plaster falling from the ceiling - nothing load-bearing involved. I have seen this in a house in the UK once. Something like that can happen when very poor workmanship is involved.

So what? Who cares? The two events are not even marginally connected, why nother mentioning them both? 'Today, my living room ceiling caved in. FML' Sorted.

I hope the ceiling didn't have asbestos in it, that would be really bad....

the only thing I think when I read this is so ******* what. They need a button to click that says "I don't give a toss either way"

Well if you don't think a ceiling caving in is an FML what do you think is an FML? If you don't give a toss don't bother commenting.

I like that idea. #15- the ceiling didn't cave in, some pieces fell. chill out. #40- you can't figure it out? context clues, hun.
