Today, while trying to sleep, I kept hearing this groan/scream for help for about an hour. I decided to call 911 to send someone to investigate. Police came, I received a $100 parking fine and another citation for improper use of 911. The noise? Just a dog howling. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was off from school because of an extremely bad barking cough. My neighbours called the police because apparently my cough sounds like someone torturing an animal. FML
Siren king
Today, I found out that my dog likes to howl when he hears sirens. I live next to the fire station. FML
Today, I yelled at my dog for waking me up growling and barking out the window. He was doing it at the person stealing my car. FML
Suspicious minds
Today, the police knocked on my door, saying that they needed to investigate my house for animal abuse. Apparently the neighbours called, reporting a "screeching bird in pain". I have no bird, but I have been singing quite loudly recently. FML
Alert!
Today, I was woken up by my neighbour's dog losing its mind, and I remembered reading a story about someone ignoring a dog and later finding out that their car had been stolen. Paranoid, I went outside to check on mine. Nope. Just the damn dog barking at one thirty in the morning. FML
Today, I received a $500 fine for an "unruly" dog. I don't have a dog. FML
Crime scene
Today, I called the police because I thought a burglar had broken into our house. I found out the strange noise was just my dog fucking about, so I smashed a small window and kicked down a door so I wouldn't be embarrassed. FML
Today, I was pissed that I got a £60 parking ticket so rang my friend to rant about it. I then got pulled over by the cops for using my phone, and was fined £120. FML
Bad doggo
Today, I was threatened with arrest for refusing to accept a citation for having a dog off leash in a park. It wasn’t my fucking dog! It was a very friendly stray that started following me on my morning walk. I tried to explain myself but the dog wouldn’t leave my side or stop barking at the cop. FML
Quality panic room time
Today, as I was going to check the mail, a huge dog ran into my house. The closest room with a door was the bathroom so I slammed myself inside and screamed for help. We live far from any neighbors and my phone was outside, so there was no hope of rescue. It paced outside the door for four hours. FML

So you thought it was an actual person and let said "person" scream for help for an HOUR!? You deserve a lot more than 2 citations. Way to help the human race. I hope I'm never in trouble with you around.

"good one #19!" he said in a very sarcastic voice. and OP, i know it wasnt really a person, but if someone is screaming for help, you dont wait an hour. you call for help.

Don't you think if someone was crying for help for over an hour you would get your lazy ass out of bed to investigate!? I sure would if I though someone was dying on my door step.

Anyone else illegally parked on the block that did not receive a citation? Unless it's for being in a handicapped spot, the cops were likely exercising their discretion a bit too loosely. Also, I would consult an attorney about both of these violations. It might not be more than a hundred bucks (attorney took care of my last traffic ticket for fifty). You suspected someone may have been danger or distress after hearing a noise, asking the police to intervene in an unknown and potentially dangerous situation. Don't come to FML and complain about this, just letting it go. Make sure the municipality pays. Also, the folks at the barkingdogs Yahoo! group may be interested in seeing this after you try to go somewhere with this. Or heck, get over there and mention it. FIGHT.

49 - You're a douchebag. If someone does something stupid and/or breaks the law they should have to pay for it, not have some slimeball attorney weasel them out of it. Honestly this FML is ridiculously full of stupidity... How the **** does someone confuse a dog for someone saying "help me"...? If that wasn't bad enough, OP waits for an HOUR before deciding to be a lazy ass and just call 911 instead of investigating. OP also fails at parking, which is one of the simplest tasks in the world. He deserved everything he got here, **** you people that abuse the justice system to cover up for your own stupidity.
