Today, while standing in line at the grocery store, the elderly lady in front of me had forgotten to pay for her milk. In the spirit of the season, I paid for it and wished her happy holidays. She snatched the milk and gave me an ugly look. Then huffed at me before stomping off. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Checked out
Today, an elderly woman couldn't afford all of her groceries at the checkout so she started to take out a few things. I offered to pay for her groceries; she thanked me and walked out. An onlooker then came up to me and told me that she does it to someone every week. FML
Today, I was waiting in line for what seemed like forever at the only open lane at the grocery store. The guy in front of me took his sweet time and had multiple cards rejected, before finally pulling out a $100 bill and demanding exact change. He was buying a carton of milk. FML
Today, I was waiting in line while a lady paid for her shopping, when her credit card got declined. She started ranting and insulting everyone and kept insisting: "I'm not poor!" By the time the lady had finally stormed off, I had spittle on my face, and the cashier was almost in tears. FML
Today, I was shopping at the grocery market and was next in line. Behind me was a woman who only had two items, so I nicely let her in front of me, as it looked like she was in a hurry. When she was all rung up, she decided to pay her $16.45 in loose change which needed to be counted out. FML
Thank you, kind stranger
Today, I spent twenty minutes helping an elderly man figure out how to use the self-checkout. When we'd finished, he smiled, thanked me, then walked away… without paying for any of his groceries. The cashier assumed I was with him. FML
Today, I placed an order at a fast food joint, when the elderly lady behind me cussed me out for ordering the same thing she wanted. She ranted that I was a "dirty thief", while everyone else glared at me as if I was holding up the line. What the fuck? FML
Weird old lady of the day
Today, I was at the supermarket when an elderly lady asked if I'd grab some coffee for her from a high shelf. The moment I took my hands off my almost-full shopping cart, she made off with it. I ended up getting thrown out by security after she claimed I was trying to steal it from her. FML
Jedi mind trick
Today, while covering lunch for the self-checkout host, I noticed a customer walking away. I smiled and said, "Have a nice night!" A few minutes later, I saw that she'd left without paying on her machine. I'd smiled and waved at a lady as she stole from me. FML
Today, while bagging my groceries at a store, a lady came over to me, took a good look at the food I'd bought, picked out an item and put it in her bag. When I confronted her, she called security on me and told them I wanted to steal her stuff. I got thrown out and she walked away with a smirk. FML
Today, at the supermarket, an old lady asked for directions to the produce aisle. Having read way too many stories lately on this very site about awful elderly folks, I was wary, but helped her out. She gave me an awkward hug in thanks, lifting my wallet in the process, as I later found out. FML

That is when you run up to her, grab the milk, and dump it all over her! Some old people think they have the right to be rude, she deserves to get soaked!

The comments about she was offended by my charity, at what point did it become offensive to be kind to someone? The comments about how I didn't wish her well properly, oh well. I didn't have to wish her well at all. I was being nice without any sort of obligation. And btw, I'm agnostic but I do celebrate Christmas and have no issues with wishing someone a Merry Christmas. Note that it is MY option. Just like it was her option to say thank you and she opted out. No biggie. Thank you to all those that reminded me that there ARE people out there that DO appreciate small acts of kindness.

Good for you OP, keep being nice. Not your fault that old lady had no appreciation for how you went out of your way to be nice.

I hung out at the market and jumped the first old lady with milk that I saw and returned it for you. Where do you want me to send your $2.99?

There has been tons of old lady FML related stuff on here lately, i think they are all planning something O.o! If the world ends in 2012(which it wont), it'll be because of elderly women. :|

At least now we know that elderly women are otherwise known as female "grinchettes" ._.

It does stink that she did that. It is good that you did that. Of course we don't deserve a medal for something like that, BUT A THANK YOU IS STILL APPRECIATED. I mean, is it that hard? Just keep being yourself, OP. It will come back to you, good OR bad. It always does.
